It’s new battery time..interstate?

I've had no issues with two interstate batteries.

I always bought Die Hard batteries when I had my jeeps. I am pretty sure I had over a 100 winch extractions on one Die Hard (and Milemarker) and it still worked till I sold the jeep. We went wheeling every weekend with a sole objective of getting stuck and we did too often. There was a day I had to pull cable 22 times.

I replaced the battery in my 2000 SR5 just this last fall. The previous one was a NAPA battery that was in my 1998 Tacoma when I bought it in 2008. The previous owner had to replace it in order to complete the sale, so it was brand new then. That's 11 years on a basic middle of the road battery. When I am out west for a month long summer tour in my VW Westy the 4Runner sits in the driveway without being started for the month. The last two years the battery was dead upon my return and needed a good slow charge.

Yeah, I know. You'd think I'd learn after the first time and disconnect the negative cable before leaving.

Anyway, I bought an AGM battery at my local farm/home store (Farm & Fleet) for $130 on sale. It's a 34R with 775 cca, 890 cranking amps and reserve capacity of 120A/hr. The battery is manufactured by East Penn and has a three year free replacement and 96 month pro rata warranty.

The engine does crank considerably faster with the new battery, even at -15ºF.

Geez louise that thing is pricey though! I do agree, you get what you pay for in terms of batteries. After getting my Optima red top, I'm never going back to a lead acid battery ever again. AGM really is that much better and reliable.
 
I have a 3 year old ish Interstate from Costco. I've had no issues with it so far including starting my truck when it was -18 last saturday.
 
I bought my runner in July of '16 (2000) and replaced the battery in it July of '17 and it was a duralast gold with a 5/07 manufactured sticker on it. Ended up getting a everstart from walmart because their made by Johnson controls. I've had no issues as far as extreme heat or extreme cold. Today was -20 all day and after 11 hrs of sitting outside it fired right up.

I dont want to make too much of a big deal out of this- i always do anyhow. I called the local dealership today they told me what brand "their" Toyo badged Battery was but i forgot.. I believe that this is the 3rd battery since i bought the truck new in 97.
I do like that "X2" I've heard a lot about it from here and from other people. The Group size 34 AGM seems like a good way to go.. I'll look around again tomorrow.

Hey all,
I ended up going with another interstate. I ordered the AGM MTZ.. but when i got to the Battery dealer they only had the MTP... I needed it so they adjusted the price gave me the normal$20 for the core+ another $5 for my trouble..
