2018 TRD Off Road
Located in Panhandle Florida (Fort Walton Beach) aka Redneck Riviera.

I bought my 4Runner after moving back to the US from Japan where I fell in love with Toyota's. My friends had older SURF Hilux and Land Cruisers that were a lot of fun adventuring offroad in.
I purchased the "Oyota" right before Overland Expo East 2018. For those that were there they rained a lot and the camping/parking areas were turned to mud pits. I was impressed how easily the vehicle drove off with no issues in the mud. I can't lie if I had some cockiness seeing a lot of highly modified rigs needed a road of Maxtrax and some tow straps to get free (I understand they are heavily weighted down and were sitting for a while slowly sinking over the weekend). That experience instantly validated I made the right choice in buying this vehicle.

Some starter mods on my "Oyota"

Exterior Mods
(apologies, not sure how to make the photos smaller)
Thank you Filthy Motorsports for helping me with the King suspension and Yota Mafia with the bumper/suspension install.
If I started over I would probably go with a flat rack on top and not install the Rigids on the roof.
To come: Rigid flood light on the back roof rack and winch (should have installed it with the SSO bumper).
Not sure what happened to the "T" on the front. If someone stole it they did a very clean job. I've grown to accept it and leave it as is.

Interior Mods
Best mod is the Pedal Commander.
Favorite is the child seat. This is definitely a family vehicle made for family adventures.
I did have a soft attic that I really liked, but was fearful of the weight capacity. The Rago is good when I'm not hitting my head on it. I still have the anchor points to attach the soft attic as needed.
Next time I will buy a bigger fridge.

Electrics
Best mod is adding the KC Cyclones in the engine.
The front camera is nice along with the switches to open/close/lock the tailgate window from inside.
Using a Bussmann relay box.
Future mod will be dual battery, adding USB and 12 volt plugs in the second row seats.

Just For Fun
Why not enjoy your vehicle? It is yours, do what makes you happy.
A handful of patches I am repping and stickers of those I support. I need to get a T4R forum sticker to be legit.

Nice rig! I see you are right down the road from me. Where to you go around the Panhandle of LA? I don’t know of any trails to run here locally but I have a house north of Asheville and have already been wheeling around there. Put my first scratches on her on a trail in Tenn and I haven’t even put 2000 miles on her yet.

Black River near Wright (off of I-10 towards Pensacola) has some great trails. Yota Mafia knows that area well and that is where his shop is.
I like Point Washington State Forest. But heard all the state forest land between Destin and Panama City are good. Just a lot of soft sand.
Eglin Range is good too Maps - Eglin Air Force Base - iSportsman

I like the usb to the left of the driver. It would be great with a phone mount on the left of the windshield... giving me ideas!!

I am new to this forum. I love the front lights on your vehicle. I just got a 2020 Offroad Premium and love it, but I am interested in upgrading the lights. Could you tell me more about the add-on lights you have? Are the street-legal? Would they void the warranty? They look great!

That is exactly how I use it. I just use a vent mount currently, probably upgrade to a more sturdy/permanent mount. My only concern is the side airbag and keeping the phone lower

I just have a Baja light bar in the SSO slim line bumper, Rigid Ds in the hood hinge mounts, and Rigid Es on the roof rack. I would probably do a light bar or 4 lights on the roof rack, but the rack I got didn’t accommodate. YotaLEDs Grill lights that are tapped into my side lamps.

I did swap out the bulbs to brighter options (LED hi-beam and Philips low beams, don’t use LEDs in the low-beam spot, LED turn signals). None of this voided the warranty and are DOT approved. I don’t use the off-road lights on the street.

They do have options to swap out the fog lights that are street legal. I’ve seen a lot of people go with amber lens in that spot. Rigid just came out with a simple swap option.
I do think you could use a light down low on the street if it wasn’t blinding and the right color. Some people have smaller light pods that are amber on the forum.
