JacksonRally 2006 V8 4Runner

Tire update. Just not the good kind :rant: I started a new job this year. Lucky for me I am driving 910 miles a week :frusty: And yes I am driving the 4 Runner. When we bought this a few months back I had no idea I would start a new career and need to drive to the moon and back daily. O well, the 4Runner has low miles, up on maintenance and is pretty comfortable. All was going well untill I rotated the tires that only had 7k miles on them. Then I got a horrible wobble at low speed which turned into shakey shakey at highway speeds. So I went to my buddies shop where my lift is and lifted it up, threw it into drive and watched in amazement that the crap tires the dealership put on are out of round!!! YAY. So for the last week and a half I have been running them at 26psi to get some of the bounce out of them. I need to find the receipt for the tires and yell at someone. I would love to just buy the 33's I want but I need all my extra money to go to a commuter car.

Congrats on the new job but at the same time the tire wobble sucks man, Sorry to hear.
Are you thinking of a late 90s/early 00s Subie as a DD??
 
That sucks about the tires. But at least it is good news on the career front. Pick up a little corolla or civic fir a DD with driving that much daily.
 
I LOVE the Subie!! I am gonna say with all the other comments and compliments on it we may need some more details; specifically on the 6 bolt axles front and rear!

The Subaru is sold and now roaming around in Missouri. The 6 lug on it is a neat little secret on the older Subarus.
 
Disabled the TPMS :reddance: and lubed the slip yoke yet again. I could really do with out the clunk. But atleast grease is cheap compared to a new driveshaft.
 
About 2 weeks went by and I still had not received my pet/cargo barrier, so I sent the company an email and some way some how the order did not progress. 2 days later I received the barrier. I love this thing. Installation was a breeze but I took an extra step by installing nut-serts for the middle brackets.







They could use a touch more material in the small gap at the top corners. Maybe its just my dog trying to get through any gap she can.
 
I also found some time to finish the traction control off switch. I was planning on ordering a OTRATTW switch but when I was ready to pull the trigger on a $28 dollar switch I had second thougts. I ended up using a switch I had lying around. I also moved the center diff lock switch over.



I also removed the resonator at the end of the exhaust system.

 
I wish I can say I was finally able to atleast get a day trip in but new baby means I have to wait a few months. Buuuuut I did take the long way to the mailbox.









 
4Runner is running like a top! I finally have funds set aside for tires but Americas Tire is not open on Sundays. O well, I'll get some shiney new 285's next week.
 
Rear bumper is coming along. I decided to buy a 20ton press to make a low budget hydraulic press brake. I need to get back at it but been busy. I'm not sure if the 285 spare is going to fit under where the stock spare is but I can always toss it inside. This will be motivation to knock out the bumper. Still need to weld on sliders. And I'm hoping to get going on a roof rack shortly after.

I forgot about the sliders you made... Look forward to the results.
 
285's are on and loving them. Typical rubbing on the fender liner at the front bumper. I also have a little rubbing turning and compressed at the firewall. Im sure this will only get worse with after market upper arms due to the increase in caster.







 
Saturday plans were to change motor oil, fix a couple rattles and either weld on sliders or keep working on rear bumper. I ended up changing oil and then building a front bumper :crazy: Ive had a vision for this bumper since we purchased our 4Runner. I do not have plans for a winch right now and it is very light weight. I can always build something different if I choose. Right now Im digging it :rockon:

Do you have anymore details on the front bumper/skid you installed?

That looks like exactly what I would like to do to mine.
