I rushed to build that last Saturday. It's not 100% done so I did not get into detail on the photos. I'll post up as I finish it up. It could be a few weeks till I have time to mess with it.
 
Finally enjoyed 3 days in the great outdoors :clap2:

The wife, myself and our 2 month old son went out to Jawbone Canyon for a few days of camping, wheeling and just good times with friends and family. We did not really have an agenda, just relax and hit some trails. After some light wheeing on friday we decided to try out Last Chance Canyon in Red Rock Canyon state park. We opted to try south to north. I had the 4Runner, my brother had his Subaru Forester, my dad had his bone stock Land Rover LR2 and my buddy had his Ford Raptor. Last year my brother and I did this trail from norht to south and is seemed to be right at the limits of our Subarus. This time knowing starting from the south would be more difficult we tried it anyways. Overall the trip went great, so great we do not have many pictures. Having the most clearance I was able to tackle a few difficult spot as the others would have to bypass. After Last Chance Canyon we went to "Burro" Schmitt tunnel and then continued on EP103 up and over then back down to the 14. Sundays adventures brought us into the southern most point of the Sequoia National Forest for a few miles, then we headed home.












 
Heres a little spot I could not get through. Passenger rear and driver front were spinning, need locker! And this resulted in some wheel rash along with some trailing arm mount adjusting.

I'm a fan of the bumper, especially with it's stock bumper integration. However, are there any plans to reinforce the parts of the bumper where the skid isn't touching? For example, tubing running across the bottom? And then tubing connecting the corners of that under the factory bumper to the bottom corners of the skid?
 
Also, any info on the blue subie? I've read through your 2 wheeling suba builds over on DR, but couldn't find that one! :(

Great minds think alike. There is a heavy wall tube across the bottom. This will be the first point of contact instead of the factory lower radiator support. Im still not 100% done with the bumper. I need to make new recovery points and make a new windsheild washer reservoir that will mount behind the headlight.

Well, keep me updated with the bumper, I really like it, and you may meet a market for it on here. Make some $$$
 
As always we get home and think about how to make our rig or our trips better. After a very good weekend I only have one complaint....the ABS must GO! Atleast need to disable for off roading. At one point I thought I read that the ABS was difficult to disable on the T4R's. I have done the TRAC off switch. But the ABS must go. I always disable it in the Subarus. There was an instance on a trail where we had to accend a hill, turn mid hill and decend around an obstacle. On the way down it was a little bumpy and as I hit the brakes to slow down a touch the ABS kicked in and did not slow down, so I let off real quick and applied brakes again and same thing, great we are not stopping or slowing. Luckily the trail leveled out and smoothed out and we were back to normal braking. So now the million dollar question is can the ABS be disabled?
 
Time for an update.

After chopping up the factory front bumper cover and building the front bumper it became apparent that the factory windsheild washer bottle was now out in the open just waiting to be crushed by a rock. Due to the bumper design I do not have much protection under the headlights. I am ok with this. But the washer bottle was a bit of an eye sore.

So the solution was to build a new one to mount behind the passenger headlight up in the apron panel.

Time to fire up the welder and break out some aluminum.



















And here is the filler weld on bung and cap. Hoping to weld this on this weekend sometime. I will also drill out the bottom of the cap and counterbore to put in some filter material and secure with a set screw to create a breather.



 
And to bring us up to date, I welded on the sliders last weekend.

Here they are welded on. I tucked them in closer that I originally intended but I like the way they hug the rocker panel.











These will come in handy when we run the Lockwood/Miller Jeep Trail at the end of August.
 
Went out for a little drive last week to check out the Cleghorn Trail in our local mountains. I have been through Arrowhead and Big Bear but never started this far west. We were in hunt of thunderstorms but came up empty handed. However we had a good time.







 
Our 4Runner just hit 85,000 miles. She was treated to an oil change, tire rotation and some lube in the zerks/slip joints.

And we paid her off :madgrin:
 
Right now I am focusing on tightening up the front suspension. I purchased polyurethane control arm bushings and steering rack bushings. I'm hoping to buy some Icon UCA's in about 2 weeks. It would be smart to top it all off with new lower ball joints but if they are not loose I will run them awhile longer. I also want to get spindle gussets that way while its all apat I can do all of the upgrades at once.
