JacksonRally 2006 V8 4Runner

It was time to re-install license plate to the front of the 4Runner. So in true Jackson fashion this involved firing up the welder and bracing the front diff mount......and eventually popped the license plate onto the skid plate.

I also cut windows into the skidplate for more air flow to the radiator.

I had planned on installing bushings yesterday but it was too darn hot. So I decided to tear the headliner out thinking this was the way to remove the roof rack. On my Subarus this is how you get to the roof rack hardware, not so much on the 4Runner. Toyota actually makes it easy allowing removal of the roof rack from the outside. Lesson learned. I do prepare for headliner removal buy first picking up some sound deadening stuff.







I noticed this plastic ring that appears to have something to do with the overhead map light console mounting. I'm betting this also has something to do with the rattle that I have up there. I put some sound deadening stuff in a few key places to get thing to mate up a little tighter. Hopefully this takes care of the rattle.

 
I'm really digging that bumper mod. It looks like it could be cheap until I can save up for a big bumper, or hell, I just may love it and run it forever! lol. Very cool idea, hope you won't mind if I end up deciding to copy it a little.
 
We have now owned the 4Runner for just over a year. Put 27,000 miles on it in that year. So far, real good. Now at 91,xxx miles I am pricing out all parts and pieces for timing belt change. Should be doing timing belt right around 100k.
 
Thanksgiving vacation was a blast. She towed all 7000lbs of toy hauler like a champ. Did some wheeling (still waiting on pics from my buddy) all in all a good time.

So many build threads on here.... Man you're a helluva welder! I'm very impressed!

I like the bumper too... I can't believe nobody has asked, but would you consider building and selling more of the fabbed windshield washer reservoir?

I have had exactly one other person ask. I have tossed the idea around but do not have much time to even finish mine.
 
Well its been a little while again with out updates. Life is crazy right now. Little one is about to turn 1!! and we have another one on the way.

4 Runner is running like a top still. At this time however I need to address the brakes. They were replaced at 63K when we purchased it.

Now with the trailer I am looking for an upgraded rotor and pad. I am thinking Hawk?? I have a few questions too for those who have upgraded.

-Hawk pads and rotors? Other brand rotors/pads? Remember I am towing a 7000lb trailer. Source?

-I am also going to buy stainless lines....are the ones being offered by Goodridge "extended" for lifted applications? Based on my experience with Subarus they would always be a little longer than stock. Source?

-How many quarts of brake fluid should I have on hand to do a full flush?

I used these pads, and they are by far the best pads Ive ever had. I often find myself braking too hard on accident.

And for a full flush, I used just over a quart if I remember correctly.
