jason in tns 97 runner

Finally got my front end rebuild done, swaped out the tires for a set of 305/70s and a set of D window wheels.

The ride is so much better with the new springs and shocks. Still need to do the body lift but im happy with it at the moment.
 
awhile back I noticed that the frame spreader/cross member that front of the skid plate mounts to was bent. I thought about just straightening it and trying to strenghthen it up somehow but I decided to just cut it out and start over.

what I started with



what I replaced it with 1.5x1.5x1/8 square tube



welded in some captured nuts to remount the skid



and welded in place



I also hadnt gotten around to doing my trans cooler yet, I grabed this one out of a late model caddy, made up some brackets and mounted it up.



Ive been wanting to add a aux fan just to help out on the trails, so I picked up a 10 inch E fan made a shroud to get a good seal around the trans cooler etc. it is wired to kick on by either a thermo switch or the A/C compressor. not sure how much it will help but I thought it was a good idea.



I also fixed my busted up air box, and droped in a spectra air filter

still havnt got around to doing the body lift but its on the short list as I really want to start on my front bumper/winch mount but cant do that until the body lift is done. thanks for checking in.

Big project is getting my front bumper built. I also have a lot of little things I want to do, I know its old school but I want to do my twist on the satashi grill, rock lights, 99 up center console. I also need to do something about my banana shaped lower links in the rear, finish out my belly skids and on and on lol. To put it simply I love my runner and its no where near done.

That's true. Next time you head that way or down to Coppinger Cove let me know. I'd love to get in another trip soon.
 
Will do, I'm going to try and make SETO the TTORA ride labor day weekend, its at wind rock again this year. Just have to see how it goes I've got a lot going on Aug/sept so if I go it will be a last min thing.
 
Removed the ugly gold LIMITED emblems and replaced them with this one.

Not much of an update but I like it better, sorry for the crappy cell phone pic.
 
Ive been getting a little donr here and there so this is kind of an update over the past couple months.

Ive always liked the looks of the SATOSHI grill and have been wanting to do the mod for a long time so I decided to jump in and do it.

the two emblems I had to choose from, I decided on the smaller one


freshened it up a little

and everything test fit together


and the finished product


I used gutter screen from LOWES for the screen thats seems to be the comon material and I think it worked well. I plasti diped the grill shell and Im happy with how it turned out, I will be finding other uses for that product as well. Over all Im glad I did the grill I really like the new look.
 
I noticed awhile back the the driver side rear was sitting considerably lower than the other 3 corners, I had picked up a pair of LC 80 series 9 wrap and so I decided to swap them in and see if they fixed the problem. I wound up with a lot more lift than I exspected but Im going to leave them in and see if they settle.





I also decided while I was working on the rear of the old girl I would do somthing with the bent lower links. I really want to build new links but its just not in the cards at the moment so I decided to just thro them in the press and straighten them as best I could and then welded on a peice of 1x1x3/16 angle to stiffen them up to buy me a little time.



I also cut and sleeved the pan hard bar to center the axle up, pulled the rear diff and resealed it because its been leaking since the regear.
 
and last but not least, my wife supprised me with a ADDICTED OFF ROAD front bumper for our anniversary, Her and the kidds also got me a #9000 BADLANDS winch to mount on it.
