I've been on here for a little while now and decided it was time for a build thread. A little bit about me. I'm a total gear head. I have cars, trucks, and motorcycles. I like Toyota's and Mopars. I love old cars and everything off road. I've had several dirt bikes, buggies, and off road trucks over the years. I do 99% of my own work.
I have had a couple of 1s gen runners as hardcore crawlers. My first being an `87 that I fully built up. It started out like this....
That ended up like this before a tear down, that lead to it's demise...
It did get wheeled hard....
...and no the camera wasn't tilted :smokin: That was my little brother in the passenger seat. He is no longer with us. RIP little brother.
This is my current crawler...the one in my sig...
It's all toyota underneath... frame and driveline. My friend and I built it for him. He sold it and then it changed hands a few times before I ended up with it a couple of weeks ago. It was on the cover of Four Wheeler magazine back in Oct. It's getting a 3.4 swap in the near future. It's not quite that nice anymore.
Anyways..I had never given the 2nd and 3rd gen runners a look until I met my gf. She had a `98 2wd. I took a good look at it and decided one would fit the DD bill perfectly. Hers, btw, was totalled 2 weeks after I got mine. Now she has a `13 Runner....it's nice!
In Dec of 2012 I picked up this `98 SR5 4wd 3.4 5spd Elocker Runner in this weird color. I thought the color was odd but, ok enough to live with it. It had a bit body damage but all the stuff I was looking for. Plus, the price matched the bank account. Lol
I had to put tires on it right away. 265/75/16 Falkens. I love these tires!

..yes that rear tire is off the ground.
