That's the beauty of site, freedom to run whatever you want. Not saying, hey, that's the wrong filter to run. If it works for you then...great.
Like Brillo and Speedy used to do, I too ran regular Fram oil filters back in the day with no issues for 10+ years. I never blew out a filter or lost a motor to one. This included a stroked street/strip chevy 383 in the high 12s.
Until one day I cut a used one open just to see for myself.
Ok filter media,
cardboard upper and lower pleat separator plates,
stamp steel bypass spring, thin sealing gasket and mines
didn't have a drain back valve.
That was enough to sway me to run nothing but Toyota, Wix and Napa Gold from then on.
KN's and the like a way overkill for out 183hp motors.
