The bumper is still "loose" at this point. And we still have to do some trimming of the inner fender.

You could get creative here with some extra material, but we followed the Shrockworks instructions to the T.

Overall, the bumper quality is very good. Welds were done very well. Powder coating coverage was very good. Design is fantastic.

For an aftermarket product, it fits very well. And that's saying a lot with all the crap that's out there!

Only one hiccup with Shrockworks. They neglected to give us hardware. However, Jim provided the hardware and sent them next day air. Couldn't ask for better service. Luckily, we stock grade 5 and 8 hardware at our shop. So that did not delay the delivery date of Joneseyyy's bumper.

I don't have that much gap...maybe 1/8". There is a reason to have a gap though. Unlike the plastic OEM bumper, the SW bumper has no 'give' to it, so if you experience any frame flex offroading you risk having the bumper hit the fender.

I've never seen this actually happen, though. Others may have more experience and chime in.

at full flex the 1/2" will be gone and you will be metal to metal. An 1/8" you will have you some bent sheet metal. You can ease into it and check out how this works.

After I installed my winch bumper I felt invincible ... I can pull over anywhere now!

Thanks for the porn, that was a nice spread of joneseyy's truck, and the install job looks great - it's nice to see people care about the details.

It looks like it's about as perfect as an urban assault vehicle gets - those people sneaking a late left turn at M and Wisconsin had better watch out when Joneseyy is coming!

You do need a gap. More like 1/2"- 5/8". The frame will flex and the bumper will contact the body with anything less.

Apples to oranges but my 3rd gen rear bumper has dimpled my rear quarter panels with a 5/8" gap.

1/8" is no where enough of a gap!
(unless you aren't going to wheel it)
Even at that, I would think that it would be bouncing off it on road too.

Awesome! I was wondering if SW overlooked the gap, or the install went wrong, turns out I was just clueless. Thanks for filling in the "gap" of knowledge I'm guessing this is the same reason why Bud Built's rear bumper has a gap too, makes sense now.

These Shrockworks bumpers look great. I want to install one (or something similar) not for off road protection, but for deer collision protection- I drive a lot at night in a very deer dense region.

My question- given the loss of the inner fender lining and reduced closure to dirt/snow/salt to the engine compartment are there ay problems in northern climates where salt and sand will get thrown up into the lower engine compartment?

I admit to being lazy with regard to washing.
