Jump Starter / Battery Pack - Any recommendations?

Does anyone have a good product recommendation for a quality jump starter / battery pack to have on hand for emergencies while away from civilization? I don't need one of those combo jump starter / air compressor / flashlight / radio / compass / hair dryer combination tools - just a solid jump starter.

Anything worth paying good money for?

A quick search on amazon turned up this, which looks nice and like it'll be powerful enough (overkill?) to do the job and is compact enough.

I have an Antigravity XP-10 I bought new on eBay for cheaper than Amazon. I haven't had to use it for jump start yet, but it has come in handy for charging other items during my cross country trip these past two weeks. It comes with a nice case, and every cord you can think of for charging electronics.

i've been eyeing this one as a backup.

i have to replace my battery soon, and while i'm doing so with considerations to running a winch, i'm not quite yet ready to get into a custom dual battery configuration.
 
Looks fine, has good ratings. Plenty of juice. It would be overkill if it weighed 50 lbs like the old crappy lead-acid/AGM types.

There was a NoCo group buy not all that long ago, over a 100 people jumped on. I would expect to hear at least a few people talk about them. I bought a GB40, haven't needed to use it, it is sitting in my truck and I have been checking it, it's still at full capacity.

I like the smaller units as opposed to the larger Schumacher one referenced - personal preference.

I have this one, have used it to charge stuff while camping. Used it to jump the truck last week after my fridge killed the battery, worked perfect! :thumb:

Be careful if ordering these, the Chinese knockoffs are crazy accurate, except they melt down!

This. I've heard good things about them. It's on my short list to buy.
 
I wish more of these came with a standard 12 V female outlet. It appears that you can maybe buy a 'universal' adapter cable for some units with a female 'cigarette lighter' 12 V outlet.

I just think that would be really convenient for many camp chores. The GB70 is the only one I've found in this class of units that comes with one standard.

(I see that the booster pack es5000 does but it's a bigger, heavier likely lead acid battery and I'm after a smaller lighter li-ion.)

Random thread bump, but want to post that I'm returning the NOCO GB40 after it failed to start the 4runner today (ran the battery down listening to the Packers game :clap2:). Brand new, fully charged, LED's indicated that it was ready to go -- and it didn't do a thing. Probably a rare problem, but the whole point of the device is to have a backup. Decided to give the Antigravity XP-10 a shot, since it seems to be the go-to for many people.

Did you try using the override feature? https://no.co/support/manual-override
 
Highly recommend the Noco GB40 saved my bacon when my battery decided to dump half way through the Mojave desert. Was able to jump the truck three times without an issue.

Mine is a "power station" brand. I got it for Christmas probably 5 yrs ago. I think it came from Autozone or something like that. Anyway it has the compressor, LED lights, will recharge devices etc. It has rolled around in the back of the pickup and generally been abused and neglected. It's slow inflating tires and such, but works well. When I got it, I thought,"oh great another poor quality tool that I don't need" However its been so handy for lots of things. I find the light to be handy, putting a few lbs of air in tires etc.
 
Bummer, I guess you could see if they’ll RMA it and see what’s wrong with it, if you wanted to.

Since my original post I have used mine, a GB40, a few times, even once on a brick in late winter, with zero issues.
