junkyard elocker axle (complete) $750 too much?

found an elocker axle, prob can get the wiring harness too. . . question is, its been chillin under a totaled 4runner for at least a year or 2 and i cant really inspect. i feel like 750$ is a little much for asking. what do yall think? think i could maybe trade my axle (which has all new stuff on it) for a reduced purchase price? looking for some good advice. really want to do the swap at a minimum cost.

Yeah, I paid $650 from a guy on this forum for the complete locked axle.

Have you checked Pull-a-parts? When I was looking, they had quite a few 4runners, but there wasn't a location near me and I couldn't ship it from there up here to Boston. I think you should look around.

It might be worth it if you can talk the guy into letting you take everything from that one, the harness, ECU, axle, button, etc. Assuming you still need those things of course.

That is a tough call though if you can't inspect it.
 
$400 for the complete axle and e-locker 3rd member? Normally just the e-locker 3rd goes for about that. I think $750 for the complete setup is pretty decent especially if you can get the wiring.

As far as condition goes, unless you can go see it the best you are going to get is pictures.
 
its a mile from my house. even if i have to pay a little more it might b worth it just for the pain in the a$$ factor. think its even worth me suggesting maybe trading mine with them and paying the difference? my axle just had new seals and pinion bearings, and fluid (of course). so its in excellent shape.

i just feel like an elocker is prob the smartest thing i can do next to the 4runner just because it will allow me to go so much slower than i have to now.
 
Why do you need the ecu to swap in an e-locker? Sorry if this has been covered, but if it's required I can pretty well stop dreaming about it as I've got a diesel.:moping:
 
I've never heard of an ECU swap along with the e-locker. As far as I know it's just wiring it up and swapping it, assuming the gears match.
 
didnt mean ECU guys. sorry. just meant the wiring and whatever the control box thing is called for the elocker. oops./
 
If you can get a good deal on just the axle, but can't get the wiring/dash button/control module, you can always pick up what you need from inchworm gear... they sell the full setup. It's not the factory stuff, but it works all the same. If you're not dead set on having that toyota button on your dash, this would work fine for most retrofits.

im pretty sure i got 4.10 ratio, but the front diff is there too, so i can get if i need it. im getting a little antsy thinking about all this...

This is a good point. I don't think it is a terrible price, I would just try to negotiate the extras into the deal.

That makes more sense, so you could just use a relay setup in place of the factory locker controller by the looks of it.

this axle is off a 4runner that obviously had some offroad action by the way. talked to the dude that brought it to the yard and he said that it had 35's on it. so i assume the axle has been trhough some abusive events. maybe i could use that to get the price down? im not a great haggler so im not sure whats gonna work with these guys.

the ratio SHOULD be the same. pretty sure i have 4.10's. i havent done the wheel spin test to check for sure.

AFAIK rear lockers were available on rigs with 4:30, even 4:56 gears only..so swapping your 4:10 geared rear axle for a 4:30 with locker will still leave you with an un-matched front and rear.
