Yeah, I have a locker with 4.3's. Are you saying they didn't make lockers with 4.10's?

You should definitely do the spin test to check.

Although some may argue that some 5speed came with 4:10's and locker from the factory..all auto equipped with e-locker has 4:30, like I said maybe even 4:56.
 
Here is my take.
It's used. It may be in perfect condition. It may have had it's fluid changer every 10,000 miles.

It may have beat to heck. It may have never had a fluid change. It may be full of water and rusted to death. The actuator may not work, there is a few hundred dollars.

IF I ever bought a used diff, I would have it rebuilt and checked out before install.

I have a friend that bought a "good condition" used complete unit and in a short time he had issues.

For $750 you can buy a new ARB. True you will have to get a compressor, install kit and have it installed but you will have a locker that will instantaneously lock and unlock. and you know that it is new good parts, including seals and bearings. An e-locker will never actuate as quickly and seamless as an ARB.
 
Paid $500 for the axle I picked up a few years ago complete with the wiring and the switch, then just pucked up the Inchworm harness for the rest.

I agree 750 is a bit much for it.
 
talk about being on the fence. i think durability wise, the ARB is my best choice. but sheesh, that thing is expensive. i dont mind the need for an air compressor, i was gonna get a 2 gal viair setup anyways, the 100% duty cycle one so i can run a small air rachet or impact if need be. i know ARB's are the bomb, 750 is alot for a PART.

i just dont know what im going to do. best thing i could do now is just think about it, save some more money, and see how low i can get the junkyard. if the price is right, the price is right.

I just bought an Elocker Diff in the 4:10 ratio for $400. It look new and i didn't have to change out the ring and pinion so I felt i go a good deal on it. As for a whole axle. another $300 seams fair. It will make installation that much easier and since he has access to the donor vehicle, he should be able to get the wiring harness, ecu and switch for a song. If i were him, i would get the entire harness from the kick panel back for a pure plug and play installation.


Better yet. He should offer to buy the whole truck so he can get what he needs, and then sell the rest to recover the investment.

did u get it off ebay? i saw and bid on a taco e locker 3rd a couple weeks ago that was a 4.10

This is a good point. If you are just looking for a locker, check out some of the other lockers out there.
 
so what? now im to the point where i might just get a dang aussie again . . . thats what i was contemplating prior to find this axle. it would still be cheaper for me. a selectable setup reallllly appeals to me though.

I saw that. It was beat to hell though and it still sold for around $400. I bought mine from someone on yotatech last fall for $350 but shipping was expensive.
