It's a sema one-off. I saw a build thread on it a while back, but don't remember where. This picture has been floating around the internet for a while now. Cool concept though!

Um, FYI That picture is about 6 years old. :

I believe it was from the SEMA show in either 2008 or 2009, before the 5th gen 4runner was introduced. If you look at other pics it also has the side-opening tailgate of the FJC.

I actually like it but apparently I'm in the minority. :shrug:

That makes sense then. I was gonna say it looks like they took a 4th gen and combined it with an FJ.

What I hate are "non colors." Black, silver, gray, and white are not colors, they are the absence of color. Toyota needs to take a page from the Xterra/FJC book and make the T4R in some real colors. Bold reds, bright blues, yellow, orange, green.

I paid about a grand over my budget when I got my T4R so I could have one that is in a color (Salsa Red Pearl AKA maroon.) And if I could have gotten one in Imperial Jade Mica (dark green) I would have gone higher than that.

Sadly, IJM was only offered one year on the 4th gens, 2003.

I didn't say the color was bad persay, it's just not my cup of tea.

I tend to like Blacks, Dark Greys, Dark Greens (our Forest Green on the Tacomas is beautiful), a nice Dark Blue. Not one for bright colors myself :spy:

I've been thinking about making my own roof rails, and had in mind a flat/vertical piece - not unlike the one on this concept, but steel (not sure, is that aluminum?).

Is there a structural or usability benefit to the tubular roof rails and racks? I see almost all tubular designs out there for both rails and racks - wondering if I'm missing something if I go with something like bent flat stock to fit stock mount points and angle iron rails (or thick enough flat stock that angle isn't needed).

This Front Runner Slimline II rail illustrates the idea I'm thinking of...
