Just bought a new 4Runner, my 1st Toyota

Ive owned nothing but Jeeps and coming from an 06 Grand Cherokee Hemi. Finally had enough of Chryslers terrible service and inferior products. Hemi had rebuilt axles at 17,000 miles and lots more problems and only 31,000 miles when I traded it. Bought a 08 SR5 4.0 4wd. Has the compass/dimming mirror, leather wrapped wheel, double decker, tow package, sunroof etc. Bought it friday and it should be ready by weds. Cant wait to get it. MSRP was 32,6xx. I got 3200 over KBB excellent for my trade plus another 1K off plus 0.9% financing. Been lurking this forum for a looong time and its been a great help in my search. Ive been on the same Jeep forum for 8 years and looking forward to learning more about Yotas here. Ill post pics after I get it!

Congrats and welcome! T4R's aren't problem free. Unlike the Jeep problems are far and few between as a rule and they tolerate hard use well. You're going to love the quality! :bigok:

The only thing your old GC had better was the body electrics. By that I mean you could program locks, light delay, retained power prior to opening the door etc very easily. The T4R, not so much.

I would recommend having the dealer make your locks work the way you want them to at delivery. The instructions are in the book but NOBODY has done 1st time with ease.

Probably a big difference in power from that Hemi v8 to the 4.0 v6. The V6 in the 4R and even though I have the v8 and love it , I would be just as happy with the v6 also. I has good power , maybe a little better milage too.

Does the trailer tow package on the v6 include , trans cooler and oil cooler like the v8 trailer tow package ??? or is it just the hitch ??

They have such good deals on the 08's right now it gets tempting to dump my lease off and buy one . I already have 51k miles on my 06.

The Hemi was fast @ 330 HP and the 4.0 and 4.7 were both "slower" to me. I went with the V6 to get part time 4wd. It also came with a package that includes the chrome exhaust tip and sport pedals and bug guard. Im having the bug guard removed because Ive never been a fan. 17 inch wheels with the Michelins and I forgot to see if it had the homelink. :bash: I have a 95 Accord Coupe for a 2nd car so gas mileage wasnt a real big deal but going from 14-15mpg Jeep to 19-20mpg 4Runner is a plus.

Took some pics of the new ride. 100 miles now and I love it. Dash says my gas mileage is 21.9 and the engine isnt even near broke in. Thats good news. 20 should be no problem on a regular basis. The Jeep was getting 15 every fillup.
