They should be comparable in height, ride should be a little stiffer all around, I would measure the rear springs they should be the same height but the spring rate may be different. be careful not to over tighten the nut on the rear shocks it can break the shaft inside. don't ask how I know :redbrick:
thanks for the info and the tip. that would be what i am looking for (very little ride height difference, but stiffer). i am going to try the rear coils first. measure before and after, loaded (my fat ass) and unloaded (minus my fat ass).

The spacer lift is going to give you the same lift unless you use that and the fj coils and struts which may cause you to over stress you cv's. The FJ's have alittle bit longer spring which usually yeilds about 3/4 to 1in lift on a 4runner.
When I put a full FJ suspension on my 4th gen it gave me a 1/2" at all 4 corners . Stiffer , but better ride . I also added a 1/2" front CF spacer to lift it another inch in front.

UPDATE: just did the rear FJ TT springs/shocks last night. got about 5/8" - 3/4" of lift. the compression with me on the rear bumper was about the same for both the 5th Gen and FJ TT springs (~1"), the FJ springs "may" be just a bit stiffer. the ride home (after doing the rear lift at friend's house) which had some backroads and highway, felt better even after just doing the rear. i think the HD Bilstein's (grey w/ blue boot) off the FJ TT help quite a bit.

ok, finished up the front last night. got 1/4" of lift in the front and the rear ended up being 1/2" of lift after doing the front. very noticable ride quality improvement, i think mostly from the Bilstein shocks. i prefer to keep most of the factory rake, but i may get 1/2" (coil-pack)spacers for the front, which will also stiffen the front up a little more. i did read some comments by 4th Gen owners that said some modifications were necessary to fit 2010 FJ shocks into 4th Gen 4Runners. this was not the case for the 5th Gen 4Runner. my stuff was from a 2010 FJ TT and it all just bolted right in. so, i'd recommend looking for 2010 FJ stuff, as logic would tell me older FJ stuff may not fit (at least without mods). no pics yet, but really not much different than stock height anyways, which is fine with me as i am only running stock size BFG A/Ts. overall, pretty happy with this mod.
I don't think they will settle to stock ride height because they weren't brand new. After 6k miles on the FJ, they should already be settled for the most part. So I do think they are slightly longer (the rear for sure). They are close enough in length to the stock springs though, that it shouldn't be a problem just using the Bilstein HD's to improve ride. Again, the springs could also be helping a bit, but I feel it is more the shocks. You could also get Bilstein 5100's which I think are stiffer than these FJ TT Bilstein HD's. I have the 5100's on our 4th Gen 4Runner. Sometimes I feel the 5100's are a bit too stiff.
Is the lift in the front from the springs or spring perch height? I'm wondering because I put 5100's on my FJ and still have the brand new <2000 mile offroad bilsteins in my garage that could in theory go on the 4 Runner. Also, how would just the Offroad Bilsteins affect nose dive?
