Just Bought Some LX450 9 Wrap Coils, What Shocks?

As the title says, I just bought a set of LX450 9 Wrap Coils from another member here on T4R. Eventually I want to upgrade to 35's and the taller coils will help me to stuff them. For those who are running LC coils, what shocks are you running? Any recommendations?

Its the one for a stock 80 series, shouldn't be too hard to find out.

I just got a pair of the LX coils too and I'm going to run them with my Rancho RS5000's with a 1" extension.

Thanks for the help. I was able to search around a little and found the part number I needed. For anyone in the same situation, the Tokico part number is GE4095.

I am going bilstein 5125 rears for a 3inch lift, after discussing it over with a few companies they guys that seemed to be the pros recommended I go with those.

also did you know that those 9 coils will lift the rear like 5 inches? my brother tried them with his 3.5 inch lift front and it was still wayyy to high out back lol

Personally I want to be able to put an extra 750lbs over the rear axle and still not have it lower then the front... have a pair of LC 9 wraps waiting to go on

I am going bilstein 5125 rears for a 3inch lift, after discussing it over with a few companies they guys that seemed to be the pros recommended I go with those.

Currently I have ProComp shocks that are designed to work with my 3" lift coils but since the LX coils will be taller, I need taller shocks to allow the coils to flex fully. So the Bilstein 5125s wouldn't do me any good with the taller coils because they would limit the amount of droop, which I don't want.

It is my understanding that the coils provide anywhere between 4 and 5 inches of lift which is what I am looking for. I have also heard that the amount of lift they provide depends on the amount of weight you have in the rear...Right now I just have some cargo storage drawers, but eventually I want to get a CBI plate bumper with a swing out tire carrier so that will definitely bring the height down. I think I can deal with the rake for a while until I get an aftermarket bumper.

Haha that is definitely one reason that guys (including myself) go with the LC coils. You should definitely post some pics once you get your coils on, I am interested to see just how bad the rake is.

Thanks for the info/review. Right now I am still deciding between the Monroes and the Tokicos. I found a site where I can get the Tokicos for $43 per side with shipping included so I am leaning towards those...Anyone else have any insight?

A few guys and i are running the toyota factory shocks for the FZJ80... they can be purchased from the dealership and i believe i paid $75-80 out the door for the pair.

How is the ride with the stock FZJ80 shocks? Would you recommend them?

I did the same with my 8 wraps and the rear was nice both on road and more so off road. I just went to NAPA and asked for a rear set for a 94 Toyota Landcruiser. **Shameless plug but you see what flex you can achieve. This is even with the sway bar still connected.** :biggrin2:

I love my 7 wraps and land cruiser shocks. I picked mine up from Steve at SS for around $120, he also included some extra hardware and instructions on how to bore out the top mounting point so the land cruiser shock mounts like it does in an actual land cruiser allowing full movement and articulation. Here is a pick of mine almost maxed out of flex with the sway bar connected also.

You dont have too, I ran it like that in the pick without it. I dont have the info in front of me but I had to buy a Step up/Enlarger drill bit that looks like a cone. I then had to drill the top shock support to a larger size. Than used the extra hardware which was the OEM shock washer from toyota that comes on the landcruiser and fits in the new hole.

I would have to find the info and PM you the actual sizes and parts but like I said its not needed. Steve may give you some info but again he doesnt like selling parts if they are not using all the right parts and he would say anything over 7 wraps is too much.
