I replaced the rear pads and rotors this past weekend at 78,000 miles.
I went with Napa Ultra Premium Rotors and Toyota OEM pads just like I had used up front last year.
The faces of the rotors I removed were not in too bad of shape although the rotors themselves were pretty crusty rusty. The pads were down to around 30% or so.
Anyway, they were easier to do than the fronts. The rotors pulled off easily, I did not have to mess with the dreaded 'star wheel' adjuster for the ebrake drums. No pins to drive out like on the fronts either.
Also, for $6 I decided to replace the slide pins in the front brakes again while I was at it. After just 1 winter they were rusted in place and had to be driven out with a hammer.
Although the fronts do most of the work, there was a VERY noticeable improvement in braking performance after I was done doing the rears. My wife even commented on how much better the truck stopped.
Rotors were $120 for the pair and pads and backing plates were $60.
I'll post up pictures and a quick run through in the maintenance section in the next day or two but it was EASY. I decided to rotate all 5 tires and that probably took me nearly as long as the actual brake job itself.
And....somehow I've lucked out I guess no frozen calipers... yet.
