just got my oem fj coils in to match my 5100 bilsteins:D!

ok so i have a 2007 sport edition 4wd it had a stock XREAS system and it is being removed tomorrow. Along with the systems removal i will be having toyota install my new OEM FJ coils and my ride height adjustable 5100 bilsteins! i have set the front 2 coils at 1.75 or the third setting. I do not want a reverse rake but i do not like the rake, I do have a V8, a brush guard, a roof rack(2 lights on the brush guard and 4 on the rack), and tube steps. I am thinking that the 1.75 will provide me with enough lift to level the truck out and make it barely have a rake. Has anyone else tryed this with a v8 truck? I know with a V6 it probably would cause to much lift, but i have not been able to find anyone with a V8 with the same situation!
So please help me i am going to toyota tomorrow to watch them install the kit! should i keep the ride height the same or change it up?!

It doesnt look like the front dropped all that much with the stock stuff on it. I have a feeling it will be just a bit higher up front but you may not notice it when looking at it. I have just struts up front and the second from the bottom leveled it off but no brush guard.

04 sport V8 that I am looking at doing the .85 or 1.75" so it will be good to see yours. You should install it yourself.

I would reconsider the highest perch on the bilsteins. Without a spacer in the rear, I think you will be too high in the front. I have not done the FJ coils. But with a 1.5 rear spacer and bilstein on the highest perch, mine has just a little rake to it. Without that rear spacer, I am thinking the front would just sit too high. You might consider the next level down, or even the lowest perch. From what I remember, the FJs will give .5 in the rear on the V8. And the FJs in the front will give usually no more than 1 inch. So I doubt you want to add 2.5 to that. I am really interested in what you go with, as I still have to decide if I want to do the FJs. Keep this thread posted.

well i am not setting the height at 2.25 i am going for the 3rd level instead of the 4th. i think the third is 1.75 or 1.85 i am not sure which, but that is what i have the ring set on!
with all the extra weight do you think i should be good or no? and i was hoping the coils would add an inch to the back but i wasnt sure! what will they do for the front with the shocks being raised higher?

but does anyone know how much the coils will lift the truck also? Also do the shocks themselves lift the rear of the truck at all? or will i just have to rely on the fj coils for rear lift?

I would set at .85 with the FJ springs. You can search for the FJ swap info that Ark put together. Its been determined from compiled info that you shouldn't expect more than 1/2'' from rear FJ springs. You'll end up with 2.5'' front and only 1/2'' rear, and will actually appear to have a ''bro lean''.

You cant just pay attention to the wheel well height. To be dead level, you actually want the front actual wheel wells to be 1'' lower than the rear wheel wells. Trust me on this.

Also trust me that you will love the 5100's! I've had mine for 2'' front lift and stock coils for a couple months and love them! (I also threw a 1'' rear Cornfed spacer in as well, and I'm pretty level).

Actually, my measurements with stock tire size (yes, sadly still running 265/65/17's), are 35'' front, 37'' rear. Frankly, I'm pretty darn level with this.

It looks like you have 265/70/17's? If so, the sidewall will add almost exactly 1/2'' in height vs stock.

Oh and the shocks don't lift. You just get lift from the FJ coils. Again, search for that thread by Ark, I believe the FJ's up front might give you about 1/2'' by themselves. If you combine this with the billies at 1.75 (they call it 1.75, but its really 2''), then you're getting 2.5'' up front. Make sense?

well if i did go through with putting the front at 1.75 wouldnt it just level it out? i mean the v8 is heavy, along with the brush guard. To level out a stock 4runner you need what? an inch in the front so its level? or how much exactly? if you add rear fj coils to the equation that will give you 1/2 to 1 inch right? What about the front though will the coils do anything there?
Am i making sense or should i go with the second notch instead of the third?

yes it does, but everyone talks about how that is what they are set at but they do not account for the extra weight that you have, such as the v8 brush guard. etc...

I edited my post above to include links. Check them out. I hear you and know the stress you're feeling.

Just fyi that I also have a v8 and a Westin Bull bar (which is certainly lighter I guess).

Now that I think about it, you might just want to go ahead with the 3rd setting as you have it. If you then decide the front is too high, you can easily add to the rear. Rear is very very easy to swap coils or add a $40 Daystar 1.5'' spacer, or the $100 Cornfed 1.0'' rear spacer.

Keep us updated on how it goes! I'm stressing for you as well. You might get exactly what you're looking for with your current plan. But there are variables, which is why its so hard to determine the exact outcome. But I'd go with your plan, and can always add to the rear if needed.

Some final parting words before bed... You have a great looking rig there already - cant wait to see it lifted!

And just bear in mind, the lifts that usually leave people happy and ''level'' usually go with just one extra inch in the front vs the back. For instance:

well i am already inside so i cant tell you exactly what tires they are but they are aggressive all terrain tread 265s....

and i got all the wheels off and lifted the trcuk then realized i forgot the measurements -_- haha
but the measurements when they are done from the ground to the top of the fender right where the body starts is 37 inches in the front and 36 3/4 in the back!
it is fantastic and feels like a truck when you drive it tooDDD
i also repainted the lights covers on the brush guard lights, repainted the brackets for the brush guard, undid the screws to the licence plate which were so rusted it was fused to the damn grooves i broke the licence plate cover because of it and i completely detailed the vehicle, along with putting 5 dryer sheets in there so it smells great

ok i let the runner sit for a while and drove it around a little bit and filled the gas tank up!!!
the ride height from the bottom center of the tire to the fender right where it touches is....

Front left tire=a hair under 36 Front right tire=a hair over 36



Back left tire= 35 1/2 exactly Back right tire= 37 1/2


the gas tank is on the right side and it is a 23 gallon tank..... is that why the back right and front right are each higher then the left side? or could something have off set it?

Sounds more like where I'd expect it to be now on the measurements. No worries on not measuring before... Most 06-09's like mine, started off (stock) at around 33-33.5 in the front, and usually right around 35.5-36 in the back.

Fyi that your tank is on the ''left'' (or drivers) side. Hence the sag. That is more sag than I would expect however... I'd monitor it for awhile and you could always throw a little spacer on the left side pretty easily to even them out.
