Just had timing belt done

OK I hope this does not sound confusing, wife and I just had our timing belt/water pump done in our 04 V8 SR5 4runner on monday...This is the thing, I noticed our gas needle gauge going down a little quicker that evening, maybe parnoia, so I filled it back up tuesday AM...Tank filled to 359 miles to go, now we are down to 205 miles based off that gas gauge and our odometer has 136 miles driven since the fill up, and the MPG on the dash says averaging 18.5 so i guess we are fine dispite the difference b/w the odomoter and the fuel gauge estimator..But

I swear our gas needle is flucuating, like tonight, I did a mile 10 test run, the sucker moved to almost half a tank from slightly below the quater mark line like when I left the house and when I started the car back up after driving, it went back up to just below the quarter mark line like orginally..very weird..

the car runs fine, no loss of power one bit, it idols fine which makes me think all the tooths are fine " I guess " but that gas gauge needle dropping and going back has me concerned...we just need to monoitor this and if we are losing gas, then I need to get back to the shop..I did read if a tooth is half off, it could cause gas loss??..

has anybody experianced this after a timing belt change?

nothing done during a t belt install should have any affect whatsoever. run a full tank through it, and use a calculator to determine your actual MPG

I would suspect that even if the timing belt was off by only one tooth, the engine would not run right and there would be some codes to go with it. If anything is wrong I would suspect the sending unit in the tank. When it rains, it pours I guess. Check over their work and make sure all of the ground wires are tight and against bare metal. Run a full tank through it all the way to empty then fill it back up and try again.

thanks for the input! yeah, no loss of power, good ole V8 power. we have a half tank and I will see how many miles we put on her and calculate the MPG.
