just hit 60k - do i need to change the differential oil?

im planning to have these services done

1. replace oil + filter
2. replace coolant
3. replace air filter - or just buy a k&n filter
4. rotate tires

and im contemplating these services, not sure if they are really important

4. replace spark plugs? how often are you suppose to change these? non-platinum, do they not last as long? cause the toyota site recommends changing them every 30K

5. lubricate and re-torque propeller shaft bolt - how important is this?

6. drive belts - probably wont do this, no signs of wear or fray, probably at 90K? 120K?

7. then finally all the other oils including the front, rear differential oil, the transfer case oil, and possibly the automatic transmission oil. under normal driving conditions and highway, how often should these be changed?

any other important things i should probably look at???????


i was just wondering about the services intervals provided by the actual shop manuals. the ones provided by http://www.toyota.com/html/owners/ were a bit sketchy and was universal with other cars like the rav4 and highlander.

BTW #6 change the drive belts at 120K

is it really neccessary to change the differential oils and transfer case oil? like im really careful and meticulous about keeping up with scheduled maintainence, if you haven't noticed =P i just want to make sure my car runs well for years to come.

so does anyone know exactly when if there is a time you're suppose to change all the oils out?

I changed the fluids in the diffs, transfer case, and transmission initially at 15000 miles. And then every 30000 miles, since then.

I use Mobil 1 synthetic gear oil.

If they have never been changed, I would definitely change them.

I didn't see anywhere what vehicle you have, but if it is a 4Runner with the 3.4 V6, I would also change the timing belt, in addition to all the drive belts.

Is all the maintainence really important?. I guess that depends on whether you want to have a reliable vehicle, that lasts.

Or a vehicle that could break down at any moment, probably at the worst possible time.

If your sparkplugs have 60000 miles on them, I would change them too.
