Just installed Daystar Lift and love it...

Looks great! The 18" stock wheels give the truck a clean look. I purchased an '08 Urban Runner this past April. Besides annoying rattles, I love the truck. I am considering doing the Daystar Lift/spacers. What price range should I expect for labor and materials?
 
I spent around $185.00 for the lift kit and $200.00 for the wheel spacers. The place where I had everything installed charged me $200.00 to install all which included the mandatory wheel alignment. I am very pleased with everything so far. I do plan to replace the tires in the near future. Right now I have to replace the exhuast set up that I just did because my wife hates the noise .Since it is our family vehicle, I have to keep her happy...:confused: :D
 
Greenmonster: To try and help your decision on tires becuase a lot of guys were helpful to me on this forum...

I was worried about the BFGs weighing as much as a smart car also! There is an absolute difference in acceleration after installing the tires. I installed the 2.5 inch daystar and rode with stock tires and as you can probably atest to, the ride is identical.

With the BFGs there is a tad more sway on the highway with windgusts and there is a decrease in accelleration. I am thinking spidertrax will solve the sway problem.

That being said I have a TRD intake and TRD exhaust on my truck. I feel that after the tires and with these two mods, the truck accelerates much like a stock v6. I would probably be unhappy with the tires if I did not have the TRD mods to help with the power. If anyone has a v8 I would not think twice about it. v6: I would intake and exhaust first.

ps: I was not thrilled about the exhaust tone after install for the first 2 weeks either... now I love it... intake will be no difference in sound unless you are WOT then it sounds sick. Tell your wife to give the exhaust a few more weeks!
 
dwallon: Thanks for the advice. I think your truck looks great. Let me ask you, how was the road noise with the new tires? I like they way they look on your 4runner. I was possibly thinking about going with the Cooper STT tires instead of the BFG but your pixs are changing my mind.
 
Nice looking truck Green. I have thought about having mine lifted as well. If you don't mind me asking. Did you do it yourself or did you have a shop do it? How much was the kit and the labor if a shop did it? How big of a Rim can you now fit with the lift on there? Sorry for all the questions, but wanted to get some info before I dive into this arena. Thanks
 
The road noise is up from the stockers for sure. Not a lot but on the highway I can hear them if the stereo is under 12 or so.

I think that I am going to spend $200 bucks on spidertrax and another $200 on dynamat so I can stop being picky about the ride and noise... however it really is just me being picky. THe guys at the tires shop were amazed at how well my truck rode and handled with the bfg's on it. THey are used to putting those tires on big f-250s and 2500s.

Thanks for the comments, I love my truck. I like your wheels and the tom-tom incorp. stereo better though.

**EDIT: not to mention the color-keyed grill you have! I want a white grill and a white or black yota symbol bad, but not bad enough to pay for it!

dwallon, let me know how the Dynamat helps out with the extra noise. The spidertrax should help with the wider stance. Let me know if the wheel spacers bring the ride quality back to stock with the bigger tires.

AbeFrohman, I had a truck shop intsall my lift and wheel spacers at the same time. They charged me $200.00 for labor which also included a wheel alignment. I could've installed the wheel spacers myself, but since I was having them install the lift, they installed them for free. I am very pleased with the ride quality which did not change at all over stock. Some say the reason is because I still have the stock tires on. Once I go with a bigger, taller tire, I am sure the ride quality should change slightly.
 
Depends on which one you get. Not with the one that he is running or the one that I am running. We have a 2.5/2. More lift all around but levels the truck at the same time

You are correct but the 2.5/2 is meant more for those who want to maintain the stock "nose-down" rake. A 3/2 such as Cornfed levels it a tad more, but if you want it completely level, my buddy Blair runs a 3/1 and that's what it takes for it to sit level. Either that, or go the coilover route so you can adjust the height however you choose.

my rear seems pretty high already even the guy at the truck outfitter thought so. So i figured if i just got my front raised 2.5 inches it'd look good. Am i wrong?

It will be a little nose high, assuming Daystar doesn't lie about that kit like they do about their others (Their 2" kit only lifts 1.5").

The DS 2.5/2.0 is really a 3.0/1.5. That is what I got and I've seen a few others post similar numbers. Most dont measure before/after or at least they dont post the measurements :bash:

That's what I was worried about. Since he just wants to level the front, if he put on a 2.5 that nets 3" it will be severely nose high.

I say just get a 2" spacer from Cornfed and call it a day.
