Just ordered a Covercraft Evolution car cover!

I recently got a nasty door ding so I decided to order a car cover to maximize ding protection! I'm going to leave the dinged paint alone for now in case I get into an accident on the same side then the whole thing can be repainted.

Does anyone have experience with Covercraft? From what I read online, they're known for their windshield covers but I'm not too sure about car covers. I opted to go with a Custom Evolution car cover in tan with no branded logo, reflective nighttime strips and Lock & cable kit to keep it secured overnight. It should take about 4-5 weeks to make the car cover so needless to say I can't wait!

If you have an Evolution car cover, please feel free to share pictures with us! I think I found a sample picture of a 4th gen 4R with the same car cover but nothing for 5th gen, unfortunately

Don't be that guy trying to put on a car cover in the wind in a tight parking lot.

And as someone already stated, they are to keep dust off a car if you plan to store it in a humidity and temperature controlled environment.

Thanks man! This vehicle was most likely a SUV because the ding is toward the upper part of the door near the handle. Not even edge guards could have prevented the ding I incurred! That's a great idea though - I'd need to see how sliders look on a 2018 Limited in case it'd help prevent dings from sedan vehicles.

There's a couple of folks in the lot that has car covers on their vehicles - although generic brands because none of the covers look fitted. Plus I'm not in an area where we regularly get high winds so that's something to look forward to.

There is indeed a car cover for indoor dust protection but since I park outdoors, I decided to opt for a car cover that puts an emphasis on ding protection more than anything else, like protection from outdoor elements as an example. I have my vehicle regularly detailed and have Modesta ceramic coating applied so I'm not too worried about the vehicle getting dirty anyway.

A car cover in wind = damaged paint in many cases. I think you'd be better off without a cover unless you're storing for long periods of time and protected from the wind.

I do have a cover on my boat and my travel trailer when parked for the winter. Both are mostly to keep the dirt and leaves out over the winter and protect from UV to some degree. (I have a garage for the 4Runner both at home and at work, so it gets to live inside pretty much all the time when parked anyway.)

I bought the oxGord covers from amazon due to my kids dragging their bikes, scooters, sports equipment like barbarians and complaining about no room and scratching the paint without any guilt. It has defiantly helped with the scratches and the trucks stay cleaner longer. Since the covid fiasco and the vehicles staying in the garage quite a bit, its made all the difference.

Since 2015, I've been using a Covercraft Technalon Evolution for winter storage protection of the other vehicle that graces my garage. It works great, keeps the dust out and seems to offer good dent/paint protection against "reasonable" accidental impacts. Well worth the money.

Now having said that I'm not sure I would ever be up for putting it on & taking it off on a daily basis. Although it's breathable, a breeze can easily make it into a parachute. Also when it's not on the vehicle, it will naturally want to "expand" itself a bit and occupy its space, not like a tarp or a towel.

Over the years I have had many car covers. But None for a daily driver.
I used "California car cover" Noah material.
Notice it is a "car cover" not an SUV cover. The height of the 4 runner will make it difficult to install and remove,especially when its wet. I'm 6'4" and I would have a problem removing this.
The other down side is the truck should be clean before you install the cover. Any dust or dirt that is on you truck will become sand paper under the cover.
Now you have a dirty cover.
If your not going to drive it for awhile wash it and put a cover on it.

Years ago I put a cover on my GMC Sonoma in my driveway.I had a company car so this truck wasn't used much. I Installed the cable lock under the cover. that was dragging on the ground. When it rained the paver Ants under the brick ribbon in the driveway found a new home in my truck. it was so bad they had found there way into the windshield washer fluid tank,the door frames and even under the bed protector. So keep the cable off the ground.

Your ceramic coating will protect your finish but you may not like what the cover will do to it.
