I think this is awesome that y'all are able to hook up and do a twin Supercharger install together!! That's what so great about this forum :grouphug:!!

Since there's going to be at least 3 of y'all there...y'all should be able to do a sweet write-up with lots of pictures!! Hint..Hint..Hint!!

I'll be waiting...sure it will be good... :pop2:

Thanks guys
Russel

Damn, you dropped some serious coinage buying all that stuff new, congrats! If you're going all out, I would highly suggest new headers (Dough thorley) and full exhaust in the future. Your stock exhaust system is definitely restrictive.

I shopped for a long time for my new supercharger and I must say that is a better price than I paid three years ago and better than when I was helping a friend shop last year. You'll be glad you bought new--there's something to be said for knowing it's history and having every single piece you need. That's the problem with buying used, you have to source many of the small parts yourself.

The supercharger will spoil you in ways you can't imagine. For example, go drive a brand new 2015 4Runner and tell me what you think of the power. It will feel completely gutless by comparison, trust me. Where the SC really shines is when you're loaded and climbing a high elevation pass. I can take hills at 75+ MPH at 8,500 feet loaded without the need to downshift. It's a game-changer.

I have been running mine on 93 pump gas since day one with no ping at all... I think it depends on how you drive it. It is easier for me because I am manual so if I want to go I make sure that I down shift before pegging her. This way there is no detonation while it is bogged down. I haven't noticed any at WOT, but I also don't live on the red line much lol.

nice, yeah i have a automatic transmission. i dont redline but it definately pinged and thats what made me buy the 7th and i run a 2.2 pulley as well. seems to ping at more of a "bogging" such as low rpm high gear. and sometimes when i wanna give it more thrittle going up a hill. called Gadget from URD and he says i just need to use the software and tune it which i havent done.
o well, im actually been considering doing a V-8 swap anyways....maybe....

Good luck to yall on the install and hope all works well!

As far as I've seen we don't even have 93 octane gas here in San Diego, CA.

Only 87,89,91

Dang dude had I of known you were in the market for a supercharger I would have sold you everything I had for 2600 plus shipping. Including the 7th and 2.2 pulley-.-

No offense but $2,600 for a used and $2,700 for a new? That is a no brainer to go with brand new like OP did. I realize your price includes the 7th + 2.2... but that's not really that much more if you are already dropping a few grand into the setup

I got the shift kit (the transgo "reprogramming kit"), and the installation kind of intimidated me. I'm having my local transmission shop do the work instead. Guy said my transmission is one of the cleanest he's seen. That was nice to hear. Should have the truck back tomorrow.

URD stuff (7th injector and 2.2" pulley) will be here on Monday. SC should be here on Friday.

Gonna take next Wednesday off work, and get after it in the garage. Any local guys interested in the process are welcome to come by. Just send me a PM.

Frothing!

Can you guys tell me about this 'transgo' kit? I heard about the Level10 (east coast shop) valve body upgrade and better clutch discs for Auto T4R peeps who plan to Supercharge... but haven't heard about this.

red-runner, I was just staying at some of my wife's family place literally in El Cajon neighborhood for a wedding two weekends ago. I love visiting SD!

Make sure to post some pics up! :)

Being from the midwest we have ethanol in our premium so that boosts the octane rating to 93. Pretty much the only good thing about e10 lol

Well some one already bought it, I was planning on selling the supercharger alone for 2000 which is a fair price beings it has hardly any miles on it, and the 2.2 in brand new still in the package and was 99 new, along with the 7th injector being pulled out and installed then taken off. That was 900 new, so yeah 600 for a brand new 7th and pulley. Pretty fair, actually more than fair price. But it seems like OP is indifferent to how much money he spends on quality products judging by his build thread. So yeah, could saved some money. But oh well. Hindsight is 20/20

Already did the doug thorley headers and a more open exhaust. Check out my build.

I definitely would have taken up Dirtyfingers on his deal for SC + 7th + pulley. That was a good deal. I do care about the money I'm spending, and I do like to know I'm getting good stuff. Dirty seems like a good dude, and I'd have no problem exchanging with him. Like he said,

...but I'm still gonna end up with a SC it sounds like he got his stuff sold. Everybody wins. :)

The transgo kit is just a shift kit that makes the shifts quicker, so spending less time on clutches, thereby generating less heat. The main idea was not to burn up the transmission with the extra power the SC is throwing at it. I've had some bad luck, so I figured an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.

I just got the truck back from the transmission shop, and it is one of the best and most noticeable upgrades I've done. ...and that's without the SC installed. I was expecting a little harshness in the shifts, but it turned out to be the opposite. My rig is shifting quickly, very smooth and positive between gears, and we also adjusted the shift points to better accommodate the 4.88 gearing and larger tires. Huge improvement. Still lacking power, but not for long...

Its really more like $2,700 plus another $900 for the upgrade kit.

So about $3,600 to add a new SC to the 3.4L

Minus a little if you are in CO. We don't really need 7th injector out here at a mile high; although you probably do have to run 91 octane with SC.

I think it's awesome you did this to prevent some failure at the tranny level for when the SC pushes out the additional power. I believe the whole marketing of the Level10 thing (Similar setup I believe -- stronger clutches and what not) is SC'd 4runners/tacomas/etc that burn out gears quickly with forced induction setup.

Do you mind if I ask what the transmission shop charged to do the transgo kit? I have a friend interested in going that route.

$150 parts. $300 labor. Required some negotiation, but I think it's reasonable. Guy said it's normally between $500 and $1200 depending if there are additional repairs or adjustments needed.

So envious, going all out new as well... Well done bud. I planned to keep my truck forever and do this but the need for the venerable land cruiser has trumped this plan.

Nice rig!
