Just ordered Toytec/Eibach Springs & Bilsteins, questions....

Okay I just ordered these puppies as well as rear shocks. I talked to jeff at toytec who told me that it's "recommended" to keep the billlies on the lowest perch...Does anyone rune this set up with the bilsteins on a higher perch? If so, how much extra does it give you upfront?

If it's really not good to run them on anyother perch besides the lowest, could I throw my old toytec top plate spacers on there or would that hinder anything? I'm talking just 1/4" top plate spacer...

I just installed the same setup a few months ago. The springs should give ya 3" (It's probably more like 2.5 depending, I haven't measured in a while). I wouldn't put spacers in there. I love the ride with this setup. If ya put spacers in there and raise the perch, it'll feel like a brick and you may damage the shock. Toytec recommends the setting because you'd be going higher than 3" if you raise the perch. If you put that sucker on it's highest setting (assuming you have the 3 perch Taco's) you'd get 2.5 +3=5.5" of lift, technically -

Do what he recommends, it rides like crap and kills the shock faster. Spacers give you accessive droop and can cause cv and ball joint failure. Keep it set to lowest, it looks a lot better at 2.5" with a the rear at around 3".

Best I can do on pics at the moment. The contingency on the amount of lift depends on how everything settles, aftermarket bumpers, winch, etc. I don't know how much lift you want to achieve. If you want to be sure you have more than 3", put it on the second perch (technically should be 1.25 + 3 = 4.25"). Depending on what you're doing, I would think that should get ya 3.75 at least. If you start going up on the perches, your ride will get harsher.

so im not trying to say Jeff isnt smart or doesnt know what hes talking about... cause he does, as sn0wrunner pointed out lol, but i am running the tundra(same as the taco, only they have 5 settings insted of the 3) 5100s, and the Eibach coils, and currently i am running them on the 4th pertch -4th from the bottom, one down from the top... anyhow i am at just over 3" of lift, no more than 3.5", and the ride is just fine... i started off at second from the bottom and that was just too low, i had around 5" of lift in the back and only like 1.5 up front, the rake looked silly. anyhow i had them readjusted, and the shop i took it too put them on the 4th perch even though i told them i wanted it on the 3rd, but the ride is fine, still supple and plenty giving on the road, no harshness to speak of.

but to qualify this, i also have an ARB front bumper(not the heaviest out there by far) and a Warn 9000lb winch with 125' of steel cable, two sets of off road lights on the bumper, full budbuilt skids, and sliders. so im not exactly the lightest up front.

i have discussed this several time and i my self am not sure why i have to have a higher setting than every one else to get the same amount of lift, but there have been no adverse affects as of yet

correct. If you look at the Tundra 5100 next to the tacoma 5100 the 2nd clip setting on the tundra shock is pretty much the same height as the lowest setting on the tacoma 5100. So on the Tundra shocks you could have it set on the 2nd setting. Fairly confident the OP got the Tacoma version though.

did not know that.. ive always wondered why it felt like my tundra/eibach setup felt a little shorter then other 3" front setups ive seen. maybe ill change it up a perch one day.

Hey guys for what its worth I have tundra billies and eibachs and put them in on the lowest setting and only got barely 2.5" on the high side. So me and buddy took it all apart and put it up to the second setting of five and got just over 3" and leveled it with a 1/4" spacer on the drivers side. I have now put a Arb and warn 8000 and after a couple months I am just under 3" now.

The picture is of Tundra model Billies vs Tacoma Billies (i believe). On the right with 5 notches is the tundra model like I have. On the left is the taco model with 3 notches which is what you bought according to sn0w. As you can see the second tundra notch is the same height as the first taco notch. I have mine on the first tundra notch so I can swap them to the second without making my CVs too pissed.

The pic just shows what I was saying in the last post. The lowest setting on the Taco 5100 (left) is at the same height as the 2nd clip setting on the Tundra 5100 (right). So those running the Tundra 5100's with 112-620 springs would want it on the 2nd setting for 3" of lift, and the Taco 5100's will want to keep it on the bottom.
