'87 SR5 Runner (Mitzie). I started out changing the valve cover gasket. While I'm at it, lifters a little noisy.. Found intake and exhaust (clearance) all set at .008. Set exhaust at .012, found a couple intakes loose too. Hope my valves are ok. Sounds sooo much better. Now, on to lukewarm cabin heat, hummmmm, thermostate installed upside down. Installed a 190 the correct way, flushed heater core, (yuck).. got hot heat now. Lastly, instead of replacing a powersteering hose, it was shortened and caused a kink, replaced that. I guess I had to post this to vent a little... If you have no idea what your doing, like when it comes to valve clearances and thermostates, find someone who does. Now my worry is how much valve damage has been done. She runs tip top for now. Haven't posted here since July when I first brought my Runner up from Arizona. Found members here to be very helpful and very kind.
