It won't be quite as embarrassing with the top off. Poor man's 1st gen.
I looked for a decent 1st gen or early 90's pick up with a 22RE, but honestly they are worth their weight in gold around here.

On the short list of things I like less than 3.0's, that 1.3 makes the grade. Hell, samurai's would be downright quick with a good 3.0

It really is in good shape. I ordered new shocks all the way around and a steering stabilizer. The hood and front right quarter are dented a bit, but parts are DIRT CHEAP for this thing.

Believe me, it can be a lotta fun! It doesn't acually need that much power, and the transfer case has an interesting design where you can have different ratios on HI and LO positions, so, with the proper tcase reduction kit you can compensate for bigger tires in HI, and add crawling ratio in LO, with the same gear set.
I had 8 years of great fun with this little rig! And it is as reliable and easy maintenance as a Toyota. :bravo:

U can swap in the 1.6 16V motor out of a Geo Tracker/Suzuki Sidekick. It's a direct bolt-in and doubles the HP. Checkout SuzukiConversions.com

We all made it through Lake Christy (massive mud hole at Rausch Creek) but he got high centered on a rock on one of the steep trails coming out of the lake so I had to winch him out.
Then next time we went there I egged him on to go deeper and he drowned the Samurai, but we pulled the plugs and turned her over and got her runnin again.
There's me on the top roll cage of the samurai.

My roommate had a sidekick, most gutless thing I ever drove and I do not miss it. I think the $600 we sold it for was fair lol.

Ha I had one of those when I was in Okinawa. It was a RHD with a 1000CC engine. Over there they come in 3 engine types. The "big" 1200, the middle 1000, and believe it or not they have a 660 2 stroke model.
Fun little rig and it was great in the sand because it was so light.

I like 'em fine, I think they're cute.
There's a crew called Moab Friends ForWheelin', and I think they almost all have Samis. BUILT Samis, those little trucks are no joke. They've all been wheeling down there for decades, and their rigs are dialed in. I'm not sure there's a better platform for Moab-specific terrain.
FoG will be grateful for these, I'm sure. :moon:
