Just messing around up at Slaughterhouse and finally passed an obstacle I've previously avoided since I didn't think a stock Runner could climb it without hurting something;the locker really helped. I'm glad my brother was filming.

I wouldn't try this in a stock 4th gen.

Haha. Ouch with the damage but that's still pretty sweet that a stock 4runner owned the obstacle anyways.

I've got about 37k on the Nittos and really like them and won't hesitate to buy another set even tho' the price has gone up almost $150 more out the door than they were 3 years ago.

They handle off roading just as good as the sets of BFGs I've driven on through the '90s and their on-road performance is very good for a solid A/T tire especially in the wet and that's where they beat the BFGs.

Good work, man. Front bumper isn't too bad. But I would've been nervous about my rocker panels. Time for sliders! I want to get an ARB bumper, but I am going to wait till my stock bumper is trashed.

its nice to see you actually wheel that thing, and that damage is nothing, stock bumpers are useless. i wasnt aware that you had a locker though, they do really help a bunch!

perhaps its time for a bumper with a better approach angle

Sweet! Stock, is the 3rd gen more off-road capable than the 4th gen equipped the same?

The 3rd and the 4th gens are still very close in their capabilities off road but the 3rd gens equipped with a rear locker do have a slight edge in certain situations. Another advantage with mine is it is equipped with the taller factory coils.

I wouldn't have done that obstacle in a stock 4th gen or even a '01-'02 3rd gen and I'm not sure how much the locker helped me but I'm glad I have one.

FYI- The '09 Runners may finally find a real locker on their rear axles.

Nope,it's part of the trail and there is a bypass which I've always used prior to that day but while I can climb it I can't go down it if we are doing the 4wd loop clockwise;I tried once and almost tipped it over.

Colorado off-roading looks alot different from Alabama. the only thing we really have is hills and mud, where it looks like yours has alot more terrain and obstacles to do

I do think the Rocky Mountains offers some of the best off roading in the country and just here in Colorado we have a lot of trails ranging from easy to very extreme;I never venture beyong the intermediate trails tho'.
