JWaldz '99 Adventure Build - Dual Locked | Geared | Mid-Travel | 35s | Armored

I know a lot of the FJ Cruiser guys set there caster more positive pushing the tire away from the firewall. Mine are at +2. As far as I could go without effecting everything else. Only bad thing is you'll need to move your washer fluid reservoir since you don't have a body lift. You'll probably rub the front of the frame as well. I really don't rub the firewall at all unless I'm turned into it and I come down hard on the tire. Otherwise, it just rubs the frame some. Honestly, I'd have to tub if I didn't have a body lift. You'll probably have to do it. Watch out for CARPET FIRES is all I can say lol.

Oh absolutely. I'm probably looking at just pulling carpet and tying all the wires up out of the way.

I'm hoping that the caster adjustment will help with the firewall rubbing. I don't mind frame rub. Its the firewall that can start messing things up. However with a 3" BS wheel I don't think the tire will make contact with the frame. Not having that 2" body lift will definitely intensify the rubbing on the firewall though.

I'm actually looking at chopping up the reservoir make it fit. I have seen other options as well so I need to look at see what will be the best bet. Maybe just look in to a generic resi in the engine bay somewhere. I think others have used an early pickup washer fluid resi in the engine bay. May check that option out as well.

Yea, bump steer and bad wandering was b/c of the spacers. They were 285/70R17s. I wanna say they rubbed a little but I hadn't done much trimming then. I've looked at beadlocks but haven't narrowed it down to anything specific. If I can find a set of used beadlocks that will fit when the time comes I'll go that route. I've thought about how I can stick with 16's. OMF comes to mind.. True beadlocked lx450 wheels would be tits :D

Take a look at "inner air locks". I have them on my 60 series cruiser with 37's and love them. They aren't to bad compared to new wheels and function as good or better than most bead locks. I've had an enourmous side load while at about 6psi on that truck and they worked flawlessly. There are onlt 2 downsides....
- install is kind of a pain. I bought a used tire machine and did them myself. about an hour or so per tire at the start but much quicker after
- Airing down sometimes require u deflate the inner air lock to allow air to escape. This can be fixed by installing a little tube or path for the air to travel upon on initial install though

Upsides:
-double bead locking ability
- functions as runflat to protect rim
- cheapish
- Transferable to any wheel of same size

Like I said I really like them and will be getting another set for my runner someday...

Shawn and InnerAirLock, LLC - Inner Air Lock ~ Home are great to deal with.

I had my rock rings cut and welded to my Hutchinson beadlocks by them. Great work and the price was very fair. You may want to consider having the whole treatment done on a spare set of lx450 wheels. beadlocks and rock rings.

I had them weld in 3/8" rock rings. Super beefy and will never bend the outer lip with these.

Just shipped Shawn the faces and he welded them up and shipped them back. The rock rings usually come in 1/4" but he had mentioned that he cut a set of 3/8" rings for a buddy of his and was really happy with how they turned out. I figured well for a few dollars more I would go with it and never have to second guess myself. Glad I made that choice.

I emailed OMF to get an idea of how much it would cost shipped both ways if they could convert my wheels to the conventional true headlock. Waiting to see what they say. It's probably gonna cost at least 100 for shipping each way.

I have had a few friends get quotes from them in the past. It averaged about 300 each for the conversion. Probably looking at 1700 plus taxes for a set of 5 shipped... definitely not cheap. However if you absolutely love the wheels it my be worth it. Just a heads up though. I know you were thinking about my racelines at one point. They do make beadlocked ones too. I am still considering selling them and if you wanted to beadlock them. It would be less to ship from me to omf since im in California. Just another option.

I had a box waiting for me when I got home! Since I ordered the rears separately, looks like I'll be waiting a little longer for them. Here's the fronts though. I'm in love!

Just going through your build again, been a while since I saw it....I did not seem to remember these Okole's...did I get the idea from you or vica versa because they look REALLY similar to mine except the custom logo I had them slap on there!!

They look great!!!

He said it would be $260 per wheel. Estimated shipping about $40 per wheel there and back. Shipping sucks but what can ya do. When the time comes and you still have your racelines that could be an option. Thanks

haha, I dunno. I know I stole the color idea from a couple members from the forum but I don't remember exactly who. I fell in love with it the first time I saw the colors though. So, when it came time to order them I knew exactly what I wanted. Thanks for the compliments.

How much extra was it for the custom side tubing on the bumper?

They're charging me $100. There was an other option I could have gone with but that included widening the bumper. This option allows them to put the tubing on the top versus top & side like the way I'm getting it. If you went with the widening the bumper option it would cost you $250. There's a 3rd gen 4Runner in their customer gallery of CBI's website owned by a guy named Brian that went with the widening option. I really liked it but didn't want to fork over that kind of money after everything else adds up. If I didn't get a swing away I would have gone this route.

I think the look of yours is way cleaner and 100 bucks extra isnt bad at all. Defintiely gonna have to keep this in mind when i order one in a few months. Can't wait to see it all painted and mounted up!

CBI thinks it's a clean way to do it as well versus just on the top. They think it looks more like the bumper was meant to have it instead of an add on. I do agree but I like either ways really.

I picked up some spare wheels this weekend. Found them on Craigslist and they were incredibly cheap. Pic shows 2 but it's a whole set. I couldn't find any information on them at all but I've been told they were an optional wheel for an early Tundra. I think I'm either gonna paint them or if I can get my buddy's friend to hook me up on powder coating for cheap I'll go that route. I like them, they seem pretty rare considering I can't find them anywhere online.

LCA skids huh? Nice. I haven't seen anyone install those on here... ever. Not on a 3rd gen at least. Take lots of pics.

BTW, there was a guy running those wheels on here, he ran them stock color, then went to black. I did a quick search and tracked down the build thread for you.. ought to help you picture what they'll look like.

Yeah I'm pretty sure BAMF is the first to create LCA skids for 3rd gens/1st gen Tacoma's. They require a good amount of drilling to install, so not for the squeamish or straight bolt on. They are pretty sweet though.

I'm not the 1st but I'm probably 2nd or 3rd. I'm at least the only one with them on the forum. It will take a bit of drilling, which is why Jerry is also sending me a set of the industrial bits he uses. Thanks BigFishAllDay for the link. They are definitely unique wheels ill say that. Dunno what I want to do with them yet. Maybe run some ats during the summer. I was gonna use them to make the trip down to Texas and have my other ones trailered. Then swap when I get there. But looks like my truck might be trailered down there now :D
