if they were that hard to install, let's hope you NEVER have to take them off. They'll be as torqued as a skid plate after bashing for several rides...

Unfortunately, I already know what that's like. It's like fighting a bear to get my front skid off and on. You are right though, I hope to never have to take them off!

Front LCA Skids went on last night. Man what a PITA they were. You have to drill one hole out and it's 1.5" thick cast steel so it's not easy at all. I broke 2 of the 5 industrial grade bits I had Jerry (BAMF) send me with the skids. Finally, lining up all the holes is tricky as well. Glad it's over with lol.

THOSE ARE SIMPLY BAD A S S BRO!! Color looks killer as well....i just figured these pictures deserved to be in the build 2xs!!! LOL...one day my 4Runner will be a "Big Boy" like YOURS!! LOL!!! Still glad u didnt trade it for that Taco!! Dont get me wrong that thing was NASTY...but anyone can drive a SAS through a tough trail! I can see the next MOD....LOTUS CVs...LOL!

Changed out my fuel filter tonight. I wish all the maintenance was that easy. It literally took me 20 minutes, if that. My trip list is getting smaller! Just mostly changing out fluids at this point. I just got word that my rear CBI should be shipped out some time next week. I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

So serious question - hearing that the lca's are solid steel is new to me, so removing that much material as you said sounds quite tedious, if not weakening the lca. Why not just do a few small welds to hold them on?

They do seem sweet tho! I've wanted to smooth the bottoms of the LCA for some time

They aren't all solid steel. There is a section of solid cast steel closer to the more narrow end of the lca. The edges aren't completely flush so welding wouldn't be a good idea. The larger portion of the lca is hollow, heat would probably warp it cus it's not that thick. Plus, if you were to ever have to replace your front lca say bye bye to your skid. Drilling was tedious but not hard. The hard part was lining everything up. If I had a uni-bit to enlarge the holes already in the lca to give me more room to play it would have been easier

I know you were considering beadlocks so I thought I would post this link.

I know they are 6x6.5 but you could probably find some 1" adapters and be ready to rock for less than 2 at normal price.

Thanks man, that is a really good price! However, just having spent an ungodly amount for the rear bumper and planning for my Texas offroad trip, I need to recoup my funds!

Oh absolutely. That price is killer.

If I wasn't selling my beadlocks because of not ever seeing a real reason to I needed them and spend the money on adapters, I would be keeping them. The price alone would be worth the investment at 500 a set. Spend the 300 on adapters and you have a set of brand new beadlocks for 800 bucks.

Right on. that is about as low as I go. Pismo I think im at about 8-10 but have still never lost a bead with 305's and an 8" wheel.
