Good stuff. Im interested in something I saw on expedition portal. Making a swing down skid/ roto pax mount for the spare tire location to keep the cans out of the way. Maybe I can figure something out for my own application.

Diagnosed some steering wobble I been getting lately and upon further inspection looks like my steering rack is bout to go out. At first when I jacked up the truck and tested for side to side play I thought it was the inner tie rod. I had JUST replaced it not long ago though. So, I took the boot off and shook it side to side again. I could see the whole inner shaft of the steering rack moving around A LOT. lol I'm guessing this is not normal?! I've also been hearing some popping noises up front which I can only assume are related considering both lbj's and all tie rods have been replaced recently.

Actually, I haven't decided yet.. It would be the cheaper route for sure but would not be too excited about the extra in cab noise. It's one thing to carry a convo over the tires, but over the tires and intake, it would be noisy. An in cab screw on end cap might help with it a little.

I have not.. does it get loose often or just all together need to be replaced? I'll check it when get home after work. I read the thread for the replacement. Seems easy, however with the amount of slosh it's getting on that side I'm assuming it's more than just the guide.

Not really other than the fact that you need the Tacoma intake tube if you want to run a Safari Snorkel since the snorkel is technically designed for Tacos.

The 4runner doesn't have this piece.. our intake stops at the elbow.

Plug it like I did with a pressure text cap for PVC. You can pick them up for a couple bucks at Lowe's. No noise in the cab at all until you pull the cap. I only pull mine when I'm wheeling so noise isn't an issue.

If you want to give the guide a try let me know, I have an extra one. I replaced mine troubleshooting sloppy steering but that wasn't the culprit. I can meet you in the Rock one day to hand off.

Looking forward to see if you do the in cab snorkel. I understand the need of a snorkel but never been a fan of huge crane neck on the side of my Runner.

Congrats! Looks like a pretty nice ring! My gf and I are moving into a new place with each other in a week. Bye bye 4Runner fund I figure if all is well by the beginning of next year, I'll propose. Scary to think that!

lol It probably wont be anytime soon.. From now on my build will be pretty boring haha. Maybe but a few things here and there, but I doubt I'll be making any big time purchases for the 4Runner for a little while. I gotta get my timing belt maintenance done though soon, so I do have that to look forward to.


In light of things, I did order me a few goodies from RotoPax that should be here soon. Look forward to making the setup work.
