JWaldz Rear 8" Full Float Elocker Diamond Axle Build & BS

Thanks guys.
Yeah, Diamond front w/ 4WU 3 link & 12" FOX CO's, 8.4 Diamond full float w/ disc in the rear. Both ends ARB locked and an Inch Worm 4.7 gear driven Lefty.

Very fun to drive. Wifey drives it to work daily. I get to play with it on the weekends.

Very cool. What size are the tires? Did you do the SFA conversion yourself? Got pics or a build thread?

Tires are 285-75-16 General Grabber AT2's. Very quiet and are great for the type of wheeling I do.

Brian @ 4WU gets the credit as he welded his 3 link kit on, set up the geometry and installed the Diamond I had built by another Brian @ Front Range Off Road. It works killer off road. Been about a year to dial in everything to my liking as I am picky about my truck.
Other than the trans rebuild, I did all myself at my dad's shop.

I purchased/ installed the Howe power steering set up and built a custom steering shaft. I completely went through the brake system as all brake lines are new non-ABS OEM pieces.

Here are some links that somewhat track the processes involved to get it to where it is today:

3. Rear Diamond Axle

Any questions hit me up.

Jwaldz, you plan on doing the front too?

That's an awesome setup man, I love how you kept it low and practical. Not many people who go all out on that kind of setup are willing to just run 33's. They tend to step up to the big tires and lift.

I will eventually do the front, but it's not on at the top of the list currently. I, of course, will go with a matching diamond. I've debated 3 link or doing radius arms for daily driving stability but there's much more details to work out when that time comes. I want to keep 35's on it for as long as possible so I likely wont be going much higher than it already sits when I do SAS.

You're truck reminds me of a truck I had my eyes on for sale a couple years ago. I was seriously debating getting rid on mine for it. Was a silver single cab standard bed 1st gen taco setup very similar to yours with low COG and 35's. Wasn't nearly as nice as your though. Yours is a gem, especially with the stepside bed. Most people don't like them, but I actually dig the look.

Thanks for the compliments.

When I bought my truck, I wanted a 4runner but wifey had no part of that. Your rig is killer.

I wish I could 35's but the A340F trans keeps me from doing so.
The Yukon 5.29's really help but it is a friggin' toad in regards to power as it is. It has gained 1300 lbs throughout the course if it's life so that doesn't help.

The frame height is 20.5" which is great.
The 3 link is a bit complicated to set up and I have had it out 3 separate times, adjusting and tightening everything possible.
It's taken 51 weeks to get it this far after I picked it up @ 4WU in Simi Valley at the time.
It was cool driving up there to assist on weekends, I learned a lot from Brian, the guy is a genius when it comes to suspension.

Go 3 link when you are ready, you will really like the off road performance.

Thanks man, I appreciate it.

Hopefully I'll be able to get a solid front axle under it within a couple years. Some days I want to drop the suspension and run 33's again just cus of how much this heavy turd struggles around altitude. But, meh lol.

I've got a guy that lives like 10 min from my house (in the middle of nowhere lol) that has been building custom chassis race trucks, buggies, crawlers, drag cars, full custom solid axle and independent suspensions, etc etc for over 30 years.. The whole 9 yards. Has 2 large well equipped shops next to his house lol. Even has a dirt race track out behind it all. He'll be the guy I go to when I'm ready. He'll likely let me help and educate me as well, similar to 4WU with you.
