However, that is the problem with women in the military. Most guys will look at her as a hottie instead of as a soldier. Will her team mates tell her to go do something that will put her life at risk or cost her her life? Can she pick up a 200lb guy with his gear and carry him half a mile if he got wounded? Even the pictures in the article (especially pic 7) shows her and 3 other "hotties" around a bunch of guys in uniform. I don't see a soldier in that article, I see a cute little butter bar who wanted to go play army.

But, that's pretty cool she got to do all those things though. Doesn't seem like your average woman in the military.
They go to the same schools but that's where the similarities end. Women in the military have different standards. A lot of them get things handed to them for a few different reasons. It looks discriminatory when women can't get what the guys have and some women get things handed to them in the military because they are a little hottie. Don't mis-understand me though. There are some bad ass women in the military. I know of some women who out do the men even on the male standards. But when I see articles like that where the woman have all their make up on, nails done, primary weapon slung around her back, dressed in some ass hugging pants with other girls on a helicopter when the guys are in uniform... that shows me that she's a little cutie playing army.

She enlisted and is in the arm forces. I would thank her for her service even IF she is held to a different standard. She could've have done something else with her life, but she choose to serve............... good enough for me.

That last picture, the one you're talking about at the end, the description says it's from when she was still a civilian and a cheerleader on a USO tour. I just wish that when I was enlisted that there was even a little bit of eye candy. 99% of the women in the USMC were not what you'd call lookers.

For starters I do give her total props for serving her country. I respect ALL veterans. So I'm not slamming her...but
An observation... the way she holds that weapon tells me that she has NEVER fired one in combat. Secondly, I read in another article that she was assigned to a Special Forces unit to interact with Islamic females. Hardly a dangerous mission in my eyes. Some of those photos seem pre-planned. I spent many months on the front lines during Desert Storm and in Somalia and never saw anyone that dolled up.
I'd also like to know what she received a Bronze Star for? The Bronze Star is a medal for valor, how do I know? Because I was awarded one for my service in Desert Storm. My Bronze Star has the Combat "V" for valor in combat. If she received a Bronze Star for delivering a baby, I'm kind of offended. I'm hoping it was awarded for her service instead of her boobs.

Women in the military are the ultimate failure of our liberal idiocy.
We hold them to different physical standards because humans are a sexually dimorphic species and the male is bigger, stronger, and faster than the female with only a few exceptions. I am literally twice the size of my wife, do the math of what that would mean on a battlefield.
The Israelis realized the hard way that the best means to make a unit of men break cover and run blindly into sniper fire is to grab the cute female soldier.
And, honestly, men aren't that valuable to the survival of the species. Women bear children--WWII taught us that you can repopulate entire towns and villages with a few men and lots of women, but the other way around--they die out. Are we really that "evolved" as a species that we forget what is necessary to survival of families and bloodlines?
There are fundamental differences between the sexes, most sane people realize this. It's not being "sexist," it's actually the height of stupidity to believe otherwise. I think this stupidity comes from America never having to fight an absolute, devastating war on its own soil, instead just shipping soldiers overseas to places most can't find on a map.

I have no issues with women in the military. It seems that people completely against it ignore the fact that not all soldiers are front line death machines that need to kill via hand-to-hand combat. As long as each person is assigned according to their strengths, weaknesses, and associated skills, then what is the issue? Are all of the women causing the controversy on the front lines, trying to protect fellow soldiers in close quarters combat?

There is plenty of room for debate no doubt about whether women should serve on the front lines in combat but there is little doubt that women offer a valuable contribution to the US Military. There are female pilots, police, officers of the line, doctors, nurses etc. At this point almost all non-combat infantry jobs are open to females in the military and most serve with honor, the same as men.
I'm all for 100% equal physical tests as some of the guys above have mentioned and I'm 100% against weakening down of any of today's standards.

I'm not saying it wasn't awarded for her boobs... But... anyone that is/was in the military knows that the award system is broken. There are soldiers that get a combat action badge for being on a fob that was mortared. The mortars never hit them or near them but they get the badge for being in a direct engagement with the enemy when the case cannot be any further from the truth. Anyone can get a medal from filling out the proper paperwork and commanders being pushed to give the medals away.
As far as the women in the military, I think it's fine as long as they are held to the same standards as the men. If I crashed in a helicopter (prior door gunner for the MH47), there aren't many women that can pick every bit of my 200lb ass plus gear and carry me out of a busted helicopter.

Getting away from the combat aspect since that what everyone automatically goes towards for the military, my job requires working on extremely large diesels with heavy ass parts on them. Nuts that require breaking that are torqued down from 85 to 1800 lbs. Females just can't do it. Shit, we try and break a 300 pound nut and there are two males hanging off the side of our diesel trying to get it.
I know what you mean. A part of crewing the helicopters is working on them. We have many parts that we lift on our own that are 75-100 lbs. Even the heavier parts are hoisted up but you are still having to wiggle and try to move parts that weigh several hundred pounds. Even some of our tools that we need to carry to the top of the bird weigh 50-75 lbs.

I was a paramedic. I'm no combat badass, but I have driven into situations where I have taken fire. I also have done a job where my daily duties involved heavy lifting, running, climbing stairs, and other strength related activities.
At peak condition, I'm 6'3" and 195 pounds. Right now I'm about 205.
Lifting backboards, turning victims, pushing Stryker stretchers, carrying people up and down stairwells, embankments, carrying oxygen tanks, tearing open car doors, etc...
All I can say is that I dreaded the days I wasn't partnered with another large man because when I worked with a woman I pretty much was doing 90% of the heavy lifting. And the tiny men are a LOT stronger than women of their size.
Stop the PC BS. Women are not our equals when it comes to physical strength and stamina and it puts a burden on the men who have to do the lifting for them. I have a ****ed up back at less than 40.

Unfortunately that's a part of being in the military. Most people who have a job that doesn't involve a desk have messed up backs, knees, shoulders, etc. On a normal day my back is fine but if I do heavy lifting for any more than a couple hours my back doesn't want to move. I haven't seen any docs for it but I'm pretty sure that 1500 hours in a vibrating helicopter wearing a 50lb vest may have something to do with it.
