KDSS delete

I'm going to get rid of the corroded KDSS
on my 2012 Trail 4runner. My mechanic said he has the parts for the conversion to a standard suspension.
I'm not mechanically inclined so I'm not exactly sure what all of it entails. Will I need new shocks? Someone please educate me. Thank you all.

The KDSS system is different than the older X-REAS system and does not utilize the shocks. It's standalone, so mechanically speaking one should be able to remove the front/rear sway bars and associated hydraulics without much problem.

I do know the computer talks to the KDSS system though, as it has auto-off at speeds <12MPH or something, so I'd be curious if you'd have to short that circuit or have a CEL or something.

Let us know!

I bought my vehicle with KDSS thinking one day it'd probably go away.

no its not like the XREAS that can be removed with no issues. the KDSS is integrated into the electronics so the vehicle knows when to engage or not. if you remove it and unplug etc. it will throw codes. thats why people use the DR KDSS kits to disable the KDSS but trick the computer into thinking its still there

if you remove it you still need to trick the computer or it will throw codes. I think it will throw all the codes so simply accepting warning lights isn't ideal here
