KDSS or No?

I have a '14 Trail Edition I'm about to purchase a lift for. I was always under the impression it had KDSS suspension. Then I started searching the forums and found that not all TE actually come with KDSS. So I looked under the rear driver side tire and did not see what appeared to be the kdss systems. I also checked under the driver side door along the frame and did not see the KDSS pump and lines as was mentioned in another thread. Nor do I have a KDSS light on my gauge cluster that lights up when the key is turned.

So it appears as if I do not in fact have KDSS, which leads me to my question, if I don't have KDSS, then what are these controls up near my reading lamps for? I thought that was for KDSS settings. See attached photo.

Those are crawl control settings. KDSS cannot be turned on or off.

And just on a side note - I am in the Houston area as well. I had two different salesmen at two different dealerships try to sell me a Trail which they swore had KDSS - neither of which did.

Honestly, I didn't even know what it was when I was buying the vehicle lol. I just really liked my friends TE. I'm still not even sure what it does lol. From what I've read it sounds like a replacement to sway bars that can adjust on the go. I just want to make sure I order the right lift since there is one for KDSS and one for without KDSS.

I don't have a picture, but there is a quick check. Park, and turn all the way to the left so you can see in front of the front tire. Look at the stabilizer bar.

If it's really thick, attached directly to the lower control arm, and there's a rubber boot between it and the frame then KDSS.

If thinner (~1"), connected with a link to the steering knuckle, and mounted directly to the frame, then not KDSS.
 
Kdss?

When we bought our '16 Trail I understood from the brochure that all Canadian Trails had KDSS. However it did not show up on our build sheet and
I sure don't see any sign of it on the truck. No matter, that is one thing less to go wrong and, on a paved twisty road, our '16 Trail can still run rings around the '15 Wrangler we traded in on it. I'm happy! - Ted
 
My canadian build TE also didn't say kdss on the sheet, but I can confirm mine does have it after looking under the skirt and verifying the dash lights also.
 
The good news for those that do not have KDSS is that you don't have to go out of your way to force articulation on simple dirt roads and such like us KDSS owners do.

at low speed articulation is easier with KDSS if you are talking stock vs stock

I called three h-town dealers to try and test drive one with KDSS, it was like I was speaking a foreign language.

Poor attempt at sarcastic humor I guess.

I always try to find cool humps and gullies to allow me to do low speed flexing for fun and usually go out of my way to do so.
