KDSS without moonroof?

In the market for a 5th gen - preferably Off-Road Premium. I am 6’6 so do not fit well in models with moonroofs. I would prefer KDSS but I was under the impression you could not have one without the other. A dealer yesterday evening said it is possible and sent me a window sticker as proof. Sometimes I question the accuracy of window stickers. Curious if anybody here knows for certain if you can have KDSS without moonroof?

Are you talking strictly new, or used 5th gens too? My '15 trail has KDSS and no sunroof. I'm 6'7" so I get why you don't want one!

Either way, I'd trust the window stickers.

Not strictly new - ok thanks that’s great news! I couldn’t build one on the web site with KDSS and without moonroof so I figured it wasn’t possible. Thanks!

i think one of the markets (maybe canada) only got trails/offroads with the premium package, but in general they are separate options so you can get KDSS with no sunroof.

I would have enjoyed the other premium features but I was 100% against a sunroof and I have KDSS

"Off-Roads" can be equipped with KDSS. Premium = sunroof & leather package. Get an "Off-Road" without premium, and then add better leather aftermarket for cheaper (katzkin or find a local auto upholstery shop).

Just wanted to throw in a "me too" just in case Toyota is watching. Maybe they will start making the sunroof more optional. ;-)
I am irritated with the sunroof lowering the headliners. At 6'3" my hair just rubs a little bit in our new '14 limited and in our old '09 Camry XLE. It seems like once you add leather, you automatically get a sunroof. (the best headroom I have found is in a Subaru Forester)

Are you in Canada? if so this is true

Included in the premium with the moonroof are seats that are very adjustable, and can be set very low to the floor. Have you been able to sit in these and try them?

I also have an Off Road Premium, with KDSS and withOUT sunroof. I don't often need a sunroof, but I always need headroom.

Same here 2018 TRDORP with KDSS, No Moon Roof and rear slider. Was on the dealer lot.

Same here, was on dealer lot, thought ORP with KDSS always had a sunroof but seems like others on here got it sans moonroof.

I like the added headroom and rarely ever use the moonroof

When I was looking to buy the local dealer had a black TRDORP with moonroof and a barcelona red without. My choice was 50% color 50% headroom, and I've never looked back.

I think it became optional in 2017. I have a 2017 and 2018 with Kdss, No sunroof, Premium.

You may have to wait for one to come off the boat. The 2017 didn't take too long to find. Our 2018 took a couple of boat rotations to find. We also ruled out Black and Red vehicles.

Yet another... 2017 ORP, KDSS, no sunroof. Ordered it that way and had to wait for it to ship from overseas though. Not something you'll find on someone's lot generally.

KDSS TRD OR w/no moon roof and black cloth seats. Love it.

Why not just open the sunroof and drive with your head sticking out? :jump:

My 2017 ORP has a moonroof but when I was looking plenty didn't have it. Same goes with the sliding rear cargo tray, optional. For that matter, the running boards and roof cross bars were also optional. I would skip the running boards (install sliders after you purchase) and the roof cross bars (can get them from someone that put on a roof rack, I hear there are lot out there being sold).

Same, 2017 ORP w/KDSS no sun/moon hole in the roof, leather seats and cargo slider.
Mine was a special order that the buyer backed out of and the guys at the dealership knew I was looking for one and called me. I saved a few bucks because normally as mentioned in this thread, it seems that most ORPs have the moon option already installed etc.

OP: You're probably going to have a tough time finding a used/preowned one. The ones I was able to find that were available were thousands of miles away and were listed at about ~$2k under a brand new selling price.

Hope the search is a successful one and post pics when you get it.

Leather seats don't come in the ORP, they are "leatherette" or whatever Toyota calls them (and only comes in black). I was sort of pissed that I couldn't get leather at first but the fake leather I really like now. Nothing soaks in and when you have kids, that's a good thing to have. And everyone that gets in thinks it is leather anyway.
