Key in rear hatch won't turn left (unlock)

I can turn it to the right and roll up the window/lock the doors with no issue, but the left just isn't having it. I am 99.9% sure this is possible, so I just wanted to make sure it was before I got too involved in fixing it.

I think in the ~6mo I've owned it I was able to do this twice, but required quite a bit of wiggling. I bought some graphite at the auto store and tried that but it didn't seem to have much effect.

If you use WD-40 to help free it up be sure to follow with a lubricant (silicone) made for locks. WD-40 might be useful for freeing it up but its primary purpose is to displace moisture (works great on damp leaky ignition components) and was developed with the idea of preventing moisture buildup on the inside on pressure tanks. For the aero-space industry if I remember correctly. WD-40 was the development nickname for WATER DISPLACING FOMULA 40. It does contain a very ( as in extremely) light lubricant but that won't last long and my experience has shown out that treating an exposed mechanism with WD-40 alone can lead to issues related to a lack of lubrication over time.

Interesting. My rear hatch locking mechanism would work every other pull of the the button at first I thought it was the button... Wd40 d the locking part... never had any trouble since.. maybe has different applications never had any problem with anything I've ever sprayed it on. That being said, I agree won't hurt to put some slick stuff on afterwards to help it stay lubed

I have the same problem. Only turn right and hold for closing the rear window. I even tried WD-40. Still doesn't work.

Never put WD-40 in a lock. Use graphite. WD-40 will make it much worse (even if it appears to fix temporarily).

Never put graphite in a lock tumbler that is subject to the weather. When it gets wet, it will harden like cement. Use dry silicone spray.
