I just bought a 2006 4Runner Ltd in December and it only came with one key and remote... Needless to say I've been searchignfor deals on remotes, keys and key programming so I didn't have to pay the Dealer big bucks for it. I bought a transponder key blank from an eBay vendor, but was trying to find someone to program for less than the $50the dealers want...
So, I found a Locksmith place here in Chesapeake, VA called the Lock Doctor (Travis) where you can buy a blank key have it cut and programmed for $50 ($15 key ; $35 cut and programming)! This is a bargain if you're in the area.
If you're not local and you need a key I would call around for a Locksmith. I would be surprised if you couldn't find something close in your area.
Additionally, he pointed me to his brother-in-laws site (out of Charlottesville, VA) that sells the blanks for about $13 if you're not local and need a key blank. I think that is the cheapest I've seen.
Anyway, I plan on getting the key I already bought programmed in the next day or so... Just thought I would share the details.
