key won't come out... switch or cylinder

1998 4runner when i go to shut off the ignition, it will turn off to the acc position, but the key won't come out but i did take the acc. fuse out and it allowed the key to turn to the off position and come out, could it be the ignition switch? the fuse is in the dash panel

After ACC the next step it steering lock position. For this to happen you have to turn the key left-wards while gently pulling the key up. Did you try that? or you tried to turn to left while the key is pressed in?

I have the same issue every once in a while with my 1996 4runner. If I pull off the console covering the shifter, then unplug the shifter wire harness I am able to turn the key all the way to the left and take it out. Maybe a bad sensor making the 4runner believe I'm out of park? I haven't figured it out

Try pushing the shifter farther forward as if you were pushing it past park. If that helps it's probably the shift interlock issue.

i was thinking the same thing, but when i took the acc fuse out the key work in all position and came out like it susposed to, if it was the cylinder, looks like it would not work no matter what you would do.?

I think this can help you fix your issue. Does the key comes out when you move the shifter from L to P quickly?

i found the problem, it was the gear shifter mechanism.
