Keyless Entry & Smartphone Fail ... thought it was only me until I read this

Obligatory Disclaimer: Did a search, didn't find anyone mentioning this before.

Remote for keyless entry in pocket with smartphone = unlock fail. I’ve had it happen a few times and thought maybe it was just coincidence. Then I read this on Inside Line: 2013 Subaru BRZ Archives - Long-Term Road Tests

Limited owners, has anyone else experienced this?

My phone and key fob are in separate pockets, and no, never had any issues.

For some reason, (probably ignorance on my part) I could not copy/paste or upload the relevant page of the owners manual here. But on page 32 of the 2010 manual, section 1-1 "Keys", there is a list of dont's. Although it does not say "Do not place key next to cell phone", one could easily conclude that cell phones are not a good pocket match with the smart keys, based on all the other warnings enumerated therein. But who reads all those warnings anyways?

I agree, however, placing that specific warning would be a good thing. Thanks for brining this up. Be Safe.

I can't fathom keeping my iPhone in the same pocket as my keys. I don't use cases on my phone. My keyless entry fob is on a carabiner so it is either in a jacket pocket or off my belt loop. No issues here.

Actually don't have an iPhone, it's a Samsung Galaxy S2 (boy, that's fun to say)... but am surprised you guys don't carry fob in pocket. I'm actually anti-key guy, so the remote keyless thing is a blessing. My biggest problem is: since I never have to take out of pockets, I keep leaving in pants and my wife has almost washed a few times.

Happened to me last night with the key and my blackberry in my pocket. I figured it was something electromagnetic about the phone, switched pockets, pushed on.
