Keys in, everything works. Try to start, nothing.

Hello everyone! I hope you guys can help me. Yesterday I did the tacoma whip mod and replaced my radio with an aftermarket one. I blew a fuse in the process so i didn't have, blinkers, clock, power windows, radio, or dome lights. I was getting frustrated, as I checked almost all the fuses, so I called it a night and drove my car from my dad's shed up to the house. I did some research that night and found out that it was the Dome fuse. Sure enough, that was it. replaced it, put my keys in everything turned on, radio worked, locks worked, ect. Went to turn on my car and nothing happened. No click. Nothing. I don't think it was anything I had done because all i did was replace a fuse since the last time I drove it. If you guys could please help me out, it would be much appreciated.

Yeah could be the theft system but have you checked the basics like battery voltage and it's connections condition?

If it is that, how do i know/fix it? I do have an aftermarket remote start. not sure If antitheft still works with that.

I didn't think it would be battery because everything works and it doesn't even try to turn over like a dead battery does. But i did hook up a battery charger to it anyways and it didn't do anything

No, it is probably something funky, and funky often lives with anything aftermarket. If you have a way to reset that, or take it out of the system, do so. Does it have it's own fuse? Check it with a light or meter or swap it with a known good fuse because that is suspect #1 if it exists. Do NOT tell me 'it looks fine.' I kick my dog when people say that.

If I face something like this, with no obvious cause, I start at the STARTER relay. I check for (on a '97):

- 12V+ full-time on terminal 5
- 12V+ on Terminal 1 when key turned to START
- Continuity to ground on Terminal 2 (key on, shift in Park)
- 12V+ on on Terminal 3 when key turned to START

The first three you can do with the relay removed. If those are OK, then check the relay itself by putting a jump wire into the socket at T3 and the relay on top of that, and do the last test. You probably have a fail on #2 or #3, but which one is important info in narrowing down our quest.

My 97 does the same thing sometimes if it's an automatic pull the shifter back towards reverse without pushing the button and mine starts right up. Just a thought since you drove it to your house.

Thanks everyone! I figured it out. Just a loose connection to my park/neutral safety wire.
