Kinda.. have a big problem

Um.. Well.. I kinda know this is plain stupid to do this, but I went to change the oil in my 2011 4 Runner, and long story short, not using my brain, I didn't buy oil before draining all the oil.. So I had no choice but to use transmission Fluid for a Honda since I have a lot of that, for my wife's Pilot :sorry::sorry::sorry::sorry::sorry::sorry::sorry::sorry::sorry::sorry::sorry::sorry::sorry::sorry:

- Couldn't really leave the house to go to Autozone, since I didn't currently have another car.

-Couldn't ask any neighbors since I don't have any neighbors near me.

- I think I might have damaged something because when I went to go start it, it started, for a bout five seconds, then died. Now it won't even start. :Cry:

What should I do? I really hope I didn't severely damage it, because I just bought my 4 runner 4 months ago.

Ok that was a bad first reaction. Uhhhhhh. So firstly welcome to the forum. Ok so don't ever to that again. Oil and tranny fluid are not the same. So first tell me if your serious or not. If you are.... Have it towed to a dealership. I can't be the bearer of this kind of news.

oh wow....

Ummm.... thats not good. I would drain it out, now. How much did you put in?

In older cars I remember people using transmission fluid as an engine flush prior to changing the oil all the time. It break down engine gunk etc... However in these newer vehicles I think thats not the case.

Sorry thats all I can say....

What a dumbass move. Curious to know your logic for deciding ATF was the same as 0W-20. I guess the phone was broken, you had no internet to compare viscosities between the two fluids and, judging by this winner of a decision you have no friends left, you just went for broke? Well, it worked lol.
Call your insurance company and tell them what happened. You will have a deductible but stupidity does cost money. Wait...tell me you still have insurance....

No one is that stupid...it's impossible.

So you drain the oil and don't have oil?...then you use tranny fluid to put in it to get you to Autozone...but wait, you have the internet to come here and post this BS...but you don't check to see if it'll hurt the truck putting a different oil in it...riiiiiggggghhhhhtttt....:rockthrow:

Move along...someone's fishing...:flipoff::fishing:

I guess I really F***ed it up this time. If I can start it, I'm going to try to drive it to the Toyota dealership.- Yes I could very well call a tow truck, but what's the point. As long as it starts it should be fine driving it.-

Did it die, like the engine ran out of gas, or did it DIE like it seized up and ground to a halt? My first car died that way when the oil pump went out and I was driving on the the highway. Oh never mind...I see you owned up to your prank while I was typing.
