King Coilover Weight - Is 600lbs Enough?

I run 600lbs with .5" of lift and love the ride. They wheel great too, very soft and flex nice.

I have not tried any other spring weights. I would be tempted to try like a 600 14" and see how it rides but the 600 13" do great for my setup.

That’s only 1/2” of lift over stock? How much thread is showing to achieve that?

I’d like to lower mine in the front a bit to better match the 891’s in the back. I turned each side about 2 turns to the right last night which is supposed to drop 1/2” but I didn’t notice it drop any. Adjusting it on the vehicle was also a pain in the ass.

I think I have about 11 threads showing on each. Not sure what the measurement is on it.

I thought that for King adjustment, 5 turns = 1 inch. If that is true, 2.5 turns = .05" adjustment.

According to the instructions I have 2.5 turns = 1/2”

I did not order any custom valving. I guess this was an extra set that SRQ Fabrication had laying around, so maybe they did, but afaik its standard off the shell 4Runner/Tacoma Kings coilover.

Got my tundra 5100’s swapped in to complement the 891s.

I have to say - the ride is actually really nice, softer than my OME 906 + 4runner 5100’s I had before. I’m glad I went with these rather than a softer riding LC coil.

On the other hand, while I wasn’t looking for a lot of lift, I kinda do want to be up higher in the back. It’s addicting. I’m at about 22.75” center of hub to fender on rear driver side and 23” rear passenger. That puts me just about level at 22.5” in the front.

This is just with my normal everyday load - floor jack, 2 jack stands, tools, recovery gear, small subwoofer - I’m guessing just north of 100-125lbs.

Maybe some trim packers in the future once I get my bumper built and attached.

Fun and addicting, I agree... Might want to look into 861 springs, but that's quite a bit of lift as I recall.

To compare some notes, I just took these measurements. The front, bone stock suspension, the rear, 891s with Kings.

In the rear, a Savage rear bumper with swing-out, a spare, 72 lbs storage area with small fuel tank (empty) and 40+ pounds of tools and recovery gear.

With that, at about 23 inches in the back....

I would like about 22 max in the front (inch delta), which is seems like the Kings will do out-of-the-box, as you and others indicated.

I did some more adjustments to the Kings and I think I’m in a good place with about 1” of rake.

Current measurements are:

Front driver side: 21 3/4”
Rear drive side: 22 5/8”

To get to that on the front I have about 6 threads showing - I adjusted it down a total of about 8 turns.

When I replaced my passenger side fender I was able to measure and it sits right at 21" hub to fender. In the front with some difference between the two sides. The rear sits at about 23" with 861's and all the weight. Not sure on threads. I cranked them a good bit down from how they arrived because I don't like my truck sitting super tall. The rake is fine with me because my fender cut gives the appearance that it is level most the time.

Here it is with a stock, uncut fender. (Sorry only one I can find). This is also after just setting it down off of the jack stands so not even settled yet.

Not sure how many of us are out there, but I'm one, just not the best one to ask though....

Recently installed, alignment completed just a couple weeks back, and less than an hour driving since. They've had a chance to settle for a couple months though, and I'm getting about 2.25 to 2.5" of lift from them, from where King set them up. It would normally be closer 2" with the 600 lb springs, so I was told/read. I have yet to install the synthetic rope on the winch, which will add some weight...

I wanted to add to this - I went with 700lb springs and I am super happy with ride quality and ride height is perfect right out of the box paired up with my rear 861's.
