King shocks update!

I am looking forward to seeing your stance and thread count. I have the same setup just a older generation. I have about 3 threads on the coilovers and there is too much rake in the front. I am thinking I need to go up about 1-1.5 inches in the front. I will have a better idea after seeing yours.

I am hoping to be able to get some 285's under it and get rid of the spacers.

I love the ride on from the Kings. It is not so stiff that I am beat up at every bump but stiff enough that I don't bounce.


King told me that I needed to change out the springs to get more lift. They said I shouldn't put any more preload on the coils. That left me not sure what to do.

I was at jc alignments today and saw your rig while getting my alignment done.

Love the kings! Once I saw your rig I almost instantly knew it was from this thread! Funny I spotted it. Nice looking ride. Hope you get it aligned properly.

Right on thanks! Im glad you use JC's he is the best and been using him for over 8 yrs! Only guy that can get my alignment spot on.

My rig was there for more preload on the kings, too much rake with the icon rear springs.

*keep in mind that i am running a 1" rear coil so this wouldn't help much with your 2" Icon coils.

Thank you sir, I did have to go a little more than you. I might just go your route on the rear springs. I just have to let the initial purchase of all the goods settle in with my wife before I go spending more money. Lol

I had an 05 tacoma also, and know lots of guys running Icons with it. Can you describe the difference between your ride of Tacoma with Icons and 4Runner with Kings?

My tacoma feels a lot tighter if you will, you can also say stiffer more of the time. Its kinda hard to compare both trucks due to the tacoma having a leaf sprung rear suspension and 4runner has a coil spring. However the kings are far more forgiving through pot holes, speed bumps etc. where as my icons you really have to push them to get them to soften up. This is also known as digressive valving, king uses progressive valving.
Overall I like both a lot, for different reasons but very happy with both my set ups. So if you prefer a sportier feel go for the icons, plusher more buttery feel go for kings and if you go kings get the compression adjusters so that you can tune the ride a little better to satisfy your fancy!

Sorry, but I'm confused. I want 2.5inches of lift. Will these do it? Also, why can't you adjust it on the vehicle? It looks just like my rad flos I had. Just loosen that Allen nut and stick a Allen wrench in the hole and turn them. Wheels off the ground of course. What am I missing?

Instead of starting a new thread I figure'd we could keep all the King info here. I'm in the process of ordering coil overs and plan on going King. To recap, the new reservoir brackets supplied by King will not work on KDSS vehicles due to the lack of a threaded frame insert.. correct? And this can be fixed by welding the bracket on? Does anyone know if a nut can be welded into the hole in the frame, such that the bracket can simply be bolted on?

Secondly, does anyone have any thoughts on using the Icon reservoir bracket? I believe they have a new bracket that is compatible with KDSS.

I'm open to any other thoughts on the matter, I'd just like to avoid chopping/welding up my frame if at all possible.
 
Have you talked this over with the engineers at King?
You are not to far from them, they may be inclined to use your 4Runner for some prototype work.
