King shocks update!

Have you talked this over with the engineers at King?
You are not to far from them, they may be inclined to use your 4Runner for some prototype work.

Yea I talked with them earlier, very helpful but unfortunately they currently don't offer any setup compatible with KDSS due to the reservoir bracket.

I would have ordered a full set from them too if I didn't have to weld the brackets on. I want to still be able to revert to stock if necessary. Still investigating.

Ok well king installed front and rear shocks today and I must say what an incredible difference! I haven't installed the front UCAS or the rear icon springs. Here is why king wants to borrow my truck again! They want to install a different hose fitting at the coilover and different mounts for the resis. They feel the 14's have changed a bit. I will update more when king finishes....

Thanks to [MENTION=101747]MEMO CAMPOS[/MENTION] and [MENTION=77370]Gabex35[/MENTION] for the inspiration and updates, I just pulled the trigger on the Kings. Just a heads up, if you want "extended travel", King can remove the internal spacer for an additional stoke of 0.25". I believe gabex35 has that version. Shopping around, I can confirm that Tustin Toyota has the best prices around. You can ask for Tony. Now just have to wait 2-3 weeks.

Just heard back from King and they are going to release a kit for KDSS models soon...this was their response:

"We are in the final stages of releasing the KDSS model shock, if you would like to check back with me in a few weeks, I should have a price for the kit once it gets released."

One thing I thought was interesting about King is it doesn't seem like they sell rear lifts with their kits. It was the same when I had a Tacoma.

Why miss out on the extra revenue? Even if they didn't make the springs themselves and worked with another manufacturer.

Do they suggest a particular rear spring to work well with their kits?

I believe most aftermarket rear springs will work on the 4runner with the Kings. What springs will depend on your needs/preference/height wanted.

Remember that King doesn't recommend raising past 2.5" on the fronts. SAW makes 1.5" rear springs that will give it an almost level look with the fronts at 2.5".

That's how I run mine. Icon springs and kings in the rear. Rides great. I just kept messing with the preload until it was level. I didn't like it level so I put it back to the factory rake. I think that looks better. I don't think you can say a specific height. I'm hungry.

Same here, I have the icon 2" rear springs with total chaos UCAs. I personally like some rake, so a 2.5" in the front with 2" in the rear is fine with me. To be level, the front has to be about 1-1.5" higher overall from stock. If you put a lot of heavy gear in the back, it can cause you to have a reverse rake. Another member said he did feel a difference on the kings when he raised them beyond 2.5" in the front. Keep searching and spend some time reading through other members' build threads.

The front skid clearance jumped from 9" to 15" (14" without the tire diameter change).
