Haha. I will state that when I have run chains on all fours out west we were going to/from jobsites. We also left the winch cable unspooled if that tells you how bad the roads, snow and ice were. Last truck out there I drove was a F350 4X4 diesel regular cab with chains on all four studded tires, winch up front and pipe bumpers bolted and welded to the frame. Still had to shovel and stack rock in the frozen mud holes. No fun. No fun at all.

I believe he is saying that getting a trail without kdss is basically like getting an SR5 if he is not going to use the crawl control. But you can benefit from the lockers and IIRC, there is about .5" or 1" better ground clearance. Plus the trail just looks better IMO.

But you are correct, why get a trail without all the goodies.

So really getting a TE without KDSS has no real advantage over an SR5 model assuming you don't use the crawl control. I guess one could argue that the TE has a locker when in 4 lo where the SR5 doesn't?

The TE has Multi-Terrain control. I do a lot in 4H and MT - sand dunes, dirt and gravel roads. If more is needed I go to 4L and one of the other MT settings. I think of MT being adjustable A-Trac in 4L.

Ground clearance is all the same I believe, but you might have better approach/departure angles on the 10'-13', due to the bumpers. If anything, the KDSS ground clearance and/or departure angle might suck more since the front skid has to stick out forward more to clear the KDSS piston.

Because they didn't have one on the lot. And I am an impulse buyer. And if I'm not mistaken the KDSS primarily has something to do with the sway bars. I was willing to do without that function and save the wait while they found one with.
