Thanks for the info! If your hub to fender is 27" with your current setup, I'm thinking I will probably need a set of adjustable UCAs to get that pinion angle back in line then. My hub to fender is right around 27" too, but I only have an inch of body lift. I must have the tallest 8 wraps on the forum or something. But since it's not my DD, I can hold off on buying the adjustable UCAs until everything is installed to see if I truly need it though.
I am thinking of buying the already set up case. I've found a top shift case with shifter, but they want $200 for it; and I know a guy that has a forward shift case that I could probably get for cheap, but it's fully disassembled and I would have to see if they would accept it as a core even though I'm ordering a top shift case. But I'm still keeping an eye out for a suitable core. If I have to, I could just buy the case with shifter for $200 and keep the shifter and send in the core, which would basically just save me from having to buy the shifter.
I'm not too concerned about the noise. Hopefully it's not too bad, but if it is, I can just throw the sub that's in my DD into the runner and then the music will overpower any sound the transfer case makes haha.
So if I get the top-shift case with the 23 spline 4.7s, the TC mount, and grab a shifter assembly off a case I use as a core (hopefully), that's all I need? Besides a crossmember of some sort and modified driveshafts?
Speaking of that, do either of you know if the TG dual case crossmember for the Tacoma will work on the 4runner?

I might have to buy a damn welder off craigslist just to get this done.
But yeah I figure the crawl box is saving me from having to regear and saving my clutch, so it's a good investment. At least that's how I'm justifying it to myself haha.
