I am sure that TLC200 is very well-built. I am sure that it is very comfortable to drive. But, as a trail vehicle, i just don't know. Why?
1. Clearances are at all-time low...breakover and departure angles are pretty bad. So, you definitely need to do some lifting.
2. No factory rear locker available. So, you have to buy ARB rear locker.
3. You will need sliders made for the TLC200.
4. It is really heavy and big.
5. It is really expensive, as you stated.
So, in addition to shelling out $70,000, you will also need to spend a good deal of money (at least $5000) afterwards to modify it so that it can handle "real" trails. In addition, as you modify it more, there is more chance of headaches from poor installation, mismatch parts, and decrease durability (aka from lifting for example since you will need at least a 2 inch or more lift to overcome the poor angles!).
On the other hand, you can buy a 4runner Trail and be better off since you already have decent angles, rear locker, and is a lot cheaper. Cheaper = more cash left over for more mods. Granted, you lose the grand Land Cruiser name, the stout chassis, the clean underbody, the comfy ride....but you gain a better vehicle for off-roading, even if it is just expedition type.
(And as you know, i went down the path of expensive SUV for off-roading before...it gets really expensive!!
In the future, i plan on getting either a 4runner Trail or Wrangler Rubicon...not going down that path again!)
