I could easily see them stop selling the Land Cruiser and put a V8 in something like a TRD 4Runner with a different front and rear facia and call it "4Runner Land Cruiser Edition" or just a "Land Cruiser"

But since they are killing off their V8's who knows.

The current TRDP / OR is more Land Cruiser in all honesty than today's 200 series.

On the trail the TRDP/OR is the better vehicle. All other things considered the 200 is the better overall vehicle - but we know that due to cost.

So if you really think about - this could make some sense.
 
Not sure if it has been said, but it will most likely arrive with a Lexus logo on it. The LX570 sells 3 to 1 over its Toyota twin, because, well the Lexus logo is obviously worth more than a Toyota logo to Americans.

the interior happens to be way better as well for almost the same money. trick suspension as well.

I thought this initially too - but I'm not so sure.

According to the lexus dealer's council - the number one request to Lexus is a full size 3 row SUV. Specifically an "18 foot people mover to compete with the GMC Yukon XL" The dealers want the sequoia, not a LC300. So I think there's a pretty decent chance that Lexus dealers will get what they want and the LC300 will not come to north america in any form. I just don't see how there's room in Lexus' lineup for the LC300 and the Sequoia in Lexus trim. If anything a short and long wheel base sequoia is what is in demand. If the buyers want the bigger size - my guess is they'll pass on the smaller LC300. And if they are both offered - I predict that the LC300 version will have few sales and be discontinued shortly after.

I had big hopes that the LC300 would come to slot between the 4Runner and sequoia as basically a HD 4Runner rather than a SUV version of a Century. Looks like that's not in the cards - at least not for now.

I haven't logged in for ages, but I had to just to say how on base you are, at least for me. Back in the spring I traded in my [wife's] 5th gen 4R, for a new Sequoia. She needed more space, I wanted a V8. I considered the LC200, but the sequoia had a lot more space and wife's LC200 would never get used off road.

The 2-3 year plan, however, was for me to pick up a new LC after that. Really just 2 primary reasons for wanting the LC: a kick-ass V8, and I wouldn't mind some more space than the 4R.

Now they screwed me, and I'm on pins and needles waiting to see what Toyota's plans are. If they put a better engine in the 6G 4R, I'll get that and be happy with the money saved. If Lexus could make a car that doesn't make me sick to look at, I'd buy the LC300 version of that.

I could go on and on, but end of the day, if they did a V8 4R, or more realistically a TTV6, next gen, I'd pay the premium it would command. It'd still be cheap compared to a LC or Sequoia. I love your short wheelbase Sequoia idea. Hell, I'd have 2 sequoias if they had a solid rear axle.

No one wants an off road vehicle.

We should be happy if Toyota sells ANY BOF vehicle past 2023, or hasn't bastardized the 4Runner the way GM did with the Blazer.

Road vehicles have had to become fat, wide, heavy pigs for safety reasons and tend to deploy airbags when tilted and trailworthy and roadworthy aren't something you can have anymore.

SxS just need a belt to keep the crushed and mangled bodies of the driver and occupants from being flung another 500 feet away down the ravine they cartwheeled into when they tried to recreate the kind of motor mount cracking and frame bending driving you see in commercials.

Since SxS allow less experienced people to get out on more difficult trails I’ve seen a lot of old timers and young families out there. They’re nice folks, we smile and wave when passing by, but those damn machines are so annoying and they sound like f’in lawn mowers.

My experience has been quite different, I only see about 25% nice family folks out for a tour, the rest have been heavy pedaled inconsiderate bags of shit with Zero offroad/trail/back-country etiquette. Recently, I pulled over to let this guy pass, he was the uphill traveler, the fkn twat fully roosted me, I assume trying to show off and he nearly crashed into a tree. I agree [MENTION=92049]LandCruiser[/MENTION] and it has been my unfortunate experience, maybe (I hope) it is just a Utah thing.

I'd have to agree in general. Family or not, most I have seen on SxS are idiots with no trail etiquette or respect for others. Not just in Utah either as I'm in Colorado and I've experienced it all over the mountain West.

As a hunter, I truly detest those g0dd@mned things. Its always right as a nice buck walks out in front of you that one of those dipsh!ts comes roaring up to survey the area to see if any deer happen to still be standing there after the loudest thing in the woods just rolled up. They generally look around for about 5 minutes wondering where all the deer are, then drive away to annoy someone else. I wouldn't mind limitations on them in certain areas and during certain times of the year (hunting season). end rant...

Sadly, yes it gets my goat. I have always tried my best to be respectful of those around me... that is something that just seems to have gone out the door. Seems the GoPro/drone/insta era has turned everyone into a look at me and forget the common sense. Gees I am turning into an ole codger :D

Back to landcruisers, maybe in 2022 we could actually buy a 70 series left hand drive in the states? :pound:

I was looking at the LC's yesterday. $85-90k! Damn that's a lot. 3 year old models with 100k miles were asking $50k.
