Larger rubber mud flaps

Has anyone tried making a DIY rubber mud flap, similar to ones on Defenders? I'm particularly interested in the fronts being longer and wider.

Gravel forest service road are destroying my rock sliders and I've even gotten a few small chips on my doors (probably from rocks hitting sliders and bouncing up). My thought is that the rubber ones could be long enough to deflect rocks but flexible when going over obstacles (as not to crack). I'd also imaging that the rubber flaps would damped noise substantially.

I got some rally armour 'universal plus' mud flaps... they hold up quite well to abuse. I use them under the same circumstances, forestry roads at speed, mud, snow and ice in the winter...
I got the Urethane plus ones, these are the cheaper 'basic' ones:

I put these on my 2016 sr5. PlastiColor 000520R01 - Mud Guards | O'Reilly Auto Parts

front flaps too small. I set these down the same exact amount as the rear . used the existing fasteners. I first made a pattern from a piece of card board drilled the holes in the new flaps using the pattern fit perfect.

these are strong fiberglass re-enforced ... my 2000 has similar flaps over 16 yrs old.

You said "Urethane plus" and "universal plus". The link you attached is also for the universal plus. I'm assuming you have the universal plus and not the Universal Urethane Plus?
The universal plus seem like a good option. How's fitment? Any pics?

Funny, I want to cut my flaps down, not make them bigger. If you ever have to back up in brush, eventually the flap gets pushed against the tire, and then gets yanked off when you go forward.

Flexible rubbers flaps might solve your problem.

you should take those flaps off . San Diego mud flaps ?

after removal you may gain a couple of MPG's.

Gotta admit, i'm a fan of the flaps. I like keeping as much of the junk off the sides and not chucking at cars on the road. The Tacomas always seem to have pretty large ones. i wonder if some of the newer taco mudflaps will bolt on.

I have the universal urethane plus, which is the exact same size/dimensions as the universal plus, just a slightly different material. I don't seem to have any pictures of the mudflaps specifically, but i have these where you can see them.

These are from the initial installation, I've moved them sine and brought them towards the 'outside' of the wheel well another Inch/Inch and a half to get a bit more coverage on the sides. the angled piece at the top of the flap itself is now visible, which i think is how it should be mounted anyway. I used some stainless steel hardware to attach them to the factory mounting spots. As you can see i haven't done the rears yet, the factory flaps do fine, and i just haven't got around to it yet.

Fitment is good. I would say it Just covers my 285/70/17 tires, take your time and get them nice and straight and they'll be good.
