ah damn, not gonna happen for me, going on a mini wheeling trip tomorrow and my parents are gonna be in town this weekend.
I'd love to get a trip together for late may/early June when I move back to nova

Does anyone have any opinions on whether I could pull my camper through this trail? I'm thinking about doing it at the end of the weekend...

Hey man, I don't think the answer should be based around if you "could". Could you? Yes, maybe. Would I personally try it? No. It kind of sucks because I would say that 90% of the trail would probably be a solid yes, but the other 10% would keep you struggling. Those areas include some impassable mud, a few rocky climbs and a few areas where the width of that thing alone would kill you. There are areas to camp down at the bottom and such.
Actually just thought about this...I think there is an easy way to the top. If your goal is just to get up there and camp, then wheel around for the day, maybe someone can give you some tips.

I would not take it.
Like [MENTION=126369]Chuch[/MENTION] was saying, if you just want to take it up and camp on the actual Flagpole Knob, I would go the back way.. It's pretty easy route that way, just a few hills.. The width though will be a pain.
FWIW, Most people I see are camping in tents on top.

I did the long run and it was really fun. I camped with a buddy down the road and we just hit the trail with the T4R. It was much easier than I anticipated, but a whole lot of fun. I could defiantly carry that camper most of the way. We did the long loop starting by the lake. Here is a picture of the top. Thanks for the help.

Nice work man! Yeah, like I said most of it was probably doable, but the first time one of those ledges yanks the axle off of that thing, you'd be in a bad way. I was also worried about the width on the short route we normally take down the backside. Your runner looks killer up there!

Thanks man. I think I could get that thing pulled most of the way. I would like to change the axle out on my camper though so I could put in some real shocks and maybe some larger tires. It was a great trip and I can't wait to go back. My buddy got a little car sick so we didn't go out the back way. It would have been a lot easier. But I didn't have cell service and I didn't know the exact way to go.

From one Hokie with tons of experience on these trails to another...
If you make it to Flagpole, and then the base of Reddish Knob per the link previously provided, just head East down the hardsurface road (about 10 miles of twisties down the mountain, but paved) back to civilization.
More concerning...what kind of rig are you tackling this in and what is your level of experience on rocks? Going up to Flagpole via Union Springs Trail (the link also previously provided) would be quite the challenge for a driver without much experience...not to mention, without a spotter or guide with experience or that knows these trails. It can be done, but there is also little room for error without risk of breakdowns, body damage, getting lost, having to walk 20 miles in the wilderness for help, etc., especially if you run alone.
If you have the experience and a capable enough rig, then it is a great run and tons of fun. If not, another route up to Flagpole that isn't quite as challenging is via Dunkle Hollow Rd. (you can see it intersect into Union Springs and turn into Flagpole). I still wouldn't run either alone (unless you have a SAT phone or one helluva strong radio...forget cell service).

. I am running a 2016 SR5 4runner stock but will be accompanied by my brother who has a Frontier Pro-4X that has been rigged up (ARB Bull Bar, Warn 12k Winch, ARB Compressor etc. etc.). We are also bringing tools and recovery gear with us. As for off-roading, I am somewhat of a novice and have not done anything serious. Could a stock 5th gen do the trail based on the directions Greg provided without damage? I will have a spotter but I really don't want to bash my truck as it is my DD as well.
